I prefer to dip toast in soup, or cut it in to squares and float it on the top. Or dip toast into your Bovril last thing at night. Biscuits are better dipped in tea. But not for too long or you get floaters... I like dipping chips in salad cream or tomato ketchup too. fried bread with tomato ketchup on is brilliant on a good old fashioned early morning fry up of bacon, eggs, fried bread, bubble and squeak and maybe a sausage or three. Washed down with a big mug of hot tea, with a splash of scotch whiskey on special occasions like Christmas. Great for preparing the stomach for a huge Christmas lunch of Turkey, baked spuds, sprouts, stuffing, Christmas pud - all washed down with a nice red Burgundy. Follow that up with a nap before tea and an evening of mixing sherry, port, scotch and anything else offered as you do the rounds. What was the question again?

I don't but my little nephew does he says it taste warm and cool, yes you work that one out, I love my toast with lots of clover butter on it or with jam at supper time.
As for the person who reckons us good old folk in Yorkshire sound funny when we ask for tea and toast, its normal up lovie we got sick of the caviar and champagne centuries ago.

Very English..I did this when I lived back east it's an English habit even very European. Americans don't usually do this. And it's very tasty. Try biscotti or other hard toast you'll love it.
