ET is most commonly associated with Engineering Technology degrees. I've not yet run accross EI, although EIT used to represent an Engineer In Training to be a licensed professional engineer.

What exactly was the full context of the EI and ET? Just those letters or more?

The E.I. or E.I.T. stands for Engineer Intern. That is a distinction one receive after he/she completes the Fundamentals of Engineering exam. Once you pass this exam you have to work under a professional engineer for 4 years and then you take the Principles of Engineering exam. Once you pass that you are now a professional engineer. Only people who have an ABET accredited engineering degree can take the tests without first getting experience. E.I. refers to any engineering discipline

E.T stands for someone who has an engineering technology degree. That is the 4 year version of a technicians degree you would get a community college. Does require the math that a true engineering degree requires.

E.T. Usually stands for Engineering Technology, for example EET is Electrical Engineering Technology, MET is Mechanical Engineering Technology, these are degrees available at universities.

E.I. Probably means E & I which stands for Electrical and Instrumentation. It is not an engineering degree, but a certification to be able to work on the electrical parts of machines that provide the feedback to the operator controls, and the controls themselves.

Think you might be confused.

E.I.T is Engineer in training in most states you have to go through this for 4 years before you can take a certification test to become a P.E. professional Engineer.

You must also pass a test either prior to or after graduation to become certified as an Engineer in Training.
