I haven't talked to him for 2 weeks. Should I mail his stuff to him, or wait until he asks for it?

First of all, shame on all you people who just say burn it. You people have no idea of why the break-up occurred. It is quite possible that it was a mutual break up and nobody is at fault. Maybe the boyfriend is getting some space before he can go back and get his stuff without hurting too bad.

It might suck, and it might make you sad. I'd say you should put his stuff in boxes. Decide on a reasonable amount of time, something that's good for you, and try to contact him and let him know that's it's there. If he doesn't respond or come by to pick it up after that amount of time, get rid of it. Throw it away, or send it to him. Maybe after some time has passed you'll have a better feeling about what the right thing to do is.

Legally, if he is capable of getting you for anything he can, do not burn, mail, or donate any of it. He could "claim" he had valuable belongings and hold you liable for it. Take you to court and force you to pay for all of it. The only thing you can do, is pack it up in a spot that it will not get damaged at all, tell him to come and get it, if he doesnt, mail a certified letter stating for him to collect his belongings and include a time limit. If nothing happens, then go to thcourthouse and tell them you want his items removed from your property, then will issue a lien, have him served, and if he does not retrieve it by the time limit, then it belongs to you. You will then be able to do anything with it, and he cant touch you. Save and make copies of everything you do. That way it can never bite you in the butt later.

I would mail him his stuff. Send along a nice note that you wanted him to have his belongings. Nothing more, nothing less. Be the bigger person here. Get rid of ALL his stuff. By keeping it you are giving him a reason to use you and come back should whatever else not work out. Mail it today!

Give him another two weeks to ask for his things. At the end of the additional two weeks contact him by certified mail asking him to get his stuff. If he does not reply or come to get his stuff - gather everything together and list each item and donate them to charity or thrift store. Keep your receipt and if he bothers you about it later present the copy of the certified letter, list of items and receipt of donation. Cover yourself - once a relationship has ended it is ended. You do not have to store someones property more than thirty days and it is just nicer to inform them when they do not return to get there things that you will not store them and get rid of everything that was not a gift to you.

Call leave a message that his things will be waiting outside in 2 days for the neighbors to go through. That gives him enough time to get it, and if he doesn't move it to the curb on garbage day.

Call one of his friends and have him/her relay the message. Keeping his stuff in your house is his way of keeping you under his thumb, making you think about him every time you see his belongings and practically forcing you take the initiative to talk to him again. (And yeah, it might be satisfying to trash it, but I've watched enough Judge Judy to know that you'd just end up paying for his brand new replacements.)

I would put it in a box, mail it to him and put some notes "Here are your stuff". Don't say anything else.

Mail it and in this way he will understand that you don't want him in your life any more and that he is a part of your past...
