To tell the truth, I used to hate coffee. I will not say that I am a convert yet. However, my wife is an expert. We have friends in Germany and they import the finest gourmet coffee from all over the world. I have tasted all the expensive ones and as far as I am concerned, coffee is not really my thing. One day we sailed into an 18th century yacht marina and heard people talking about what sounded like a coffee museum. Apparently this family and a group of "coffee specialists" collect coffee beans from all over the world. I will not disclose their secrets, but I picked up a thing or two to impress my "expert" wife.
In short they sit and blend and document different tastes. The ones that the experts consistently rate, those are the "Big” products. I tried a few and finally, I found two that I really loved. To be honest I am not sure which ones I liked.
However I can share this secret with you. My wife loved the top brands so much that she keeps asking anyone who sails there to bring her back bags of the stuff. Once, when she was out of stock, I decided to try to imitate some of their blends. If you live in Europe, I guess you can get Dalmeyer's. I added some ground cinnamon, and ground lemon rinds to what my wife had after she ran out of the Carib bean coffee and she said with that special grin; NOOOOT BAAD. I will give you the two websites where she orders her special coffee from and you can browse to your hearts content. I will list them below. In the meantime, you can try my additives and see if you have the same "Not Baad>" That from my wife means fabulous when it comes to coffee.
Boaz.
According to the experts experts, check carib bean Coffee and Dalmeyers. See these websites below.

Wherever you go in Seattle, you can always find good coffee. Some blends are so great you can't seem to get enough. Seattle's Best Blend, our award-winning signature blend, is one of them. Its enticing, highly memorable aroma proves irresistible to many. It comes from the perfect blend of Indonesian, Central, and South American coffees and is brought to life with a medium roast to bring out the "nutty" sweetness of the beans. Seattle's Best Blend: a great name for our most popular coffee.
You can order Seattle's Best Blend in 12 oz. packages, 5 pound packages, and in cases of pre-measured easy to brew packets (each makes between 8-10 cups of coffee).
or
The TBC Best Value System provides you with unique & exotic specialty grown coffees at wholesale prices by offering you a substantial discount (up to 40%) for purchasing 5 lbs. or more.
And that’s not all, with every order of 5 lbs. and over you may request coffee freezer storage bags (aka Zip-Lock bags).
Here’s How it Works -
1. On the shopping cart form change the quantity to 5 or more... "Update quantities" and watch the price drop!
2. When your coffee arrives, divide it into approximately what you use each week and put a week's worth into each freezer bag and store in a cool dark place. Keep 1 weeks worth nearby for daily brewing, but keep it sealed tight.
4. Put the freezer bags in a cool dark place... NOT THE FREEZER OR REFRIGERATOR. Light & oxygen are the culprits that stale the coffee.
5. When you run out of the first bag take the next bag out.
6. When you get to the last bag simply place another order and it's on the way.

not only is it the source of the bean but it is also in the Roasting of the bean. You need to go get some RAW (Green) Coffee Beans and then roast them to a variety of color, very dark deep brown for strong coffee and light brown for lighter flavor coffee.
I find that the absoulte best coffee comes from Venezula.

The coffee you had in Guatemala was probably better because the beans were fresher. I don't know anything about what's available in the UK.

You can sign up with Gevalia, which sends coffees in the mails. They have Guatemalan coffees that are extremely heady, as well as some from other places that are just as good. You can get beans or already ground coffee from them.

Here is a site that you can order coffee directly from Guatemala. I've ordered it and it is WONDERFUL. I hope you like it. Plus the money helps orphans in Guatemala.
