Potty Training?

Question

At what age did you start potty training?
How long did it take?

My son is 16 months should I start introducing the "potty experience" LOL to him now or should I wait for his 2nd birthday in March. My oldest is 7 and I can't remember when I started with him. I just know he was nearly three when he got it finally. So I just don't know if I maybe started him too late. And/or maybe trying to start my one year old too soon.

It varies from child to child.

If your child runs and hides, pulls off his/her diapers or show any signs relating to going to the bathroom, it's time to potty train.

I am in the process of training my 17 month old daughter and eventhough she still poops in her diaper, i take her to the potty and tell her "whenever you want to poop, come to potty" and eventually it will sink in.

Just remain patient and put your child in pull-ups to make it easier to take off.

I would get out the potty chair and put it in the bathroom. I would get him used to it and what it was for and put him on it before and after his bath, or when you change his diaper or clothes. If he shows an interest, great! If not, just wait a bit and he'll be ready later. My eldest was potty trained at 2, my son at 2 years, 11 months, and my youngest at 2 years, 4 months. I introduced all of them to the potty chair at 18 months, but didn't rush them. When they were ready, they used it.

All of mine were potty trained by 2 years old. It depends on the child really. If the child hides when it goes poo, then it's time to start. I put a training potty in the living room, took off their diapers, and let em go!
On the average it took 3-6 months for a full-potty training, pee & poo both.
Rewards and punishments don't work for this kind of thing, but video's on the subject do help.

If hes pulling off the diaper, he is probably umcomfortable with the wetness or gooiness inside. You can always try, and if he doesnt take, you still have time to train him. Some kids like it, some dont. You could always make reference to what a big boy his older brother is by going on the potty, and induce a little heroism or sibling rivalry early. It worked for my sisters kids. And she wasnt even trying to potty train the youngest one, (her older daughter wasnt interested and had a late start). The youngest just wanted the same attention and decided it was time on her own.

You should purchase a potty seat he can use at the grownup potty, or you'll make him use the youngster. Either method you'll be able to most often need to keep in the toilet with him till he is going for the primary few months of potty coaching. Don't anticipate him to be ready to head in there and deal with it himself. Grab a booklet and plant your self till he is going. Don't make it demanding. You can present a gift of a few type if he makes use of both potty (like 2 m&m's). Be sufferer even though he isn't and do not fear. Training takes time.

the only thing i did was go buy a potty chair boys r easier than girls tho and let them get to know the chair and understand what it is dont push them u will scare them but let them play with the chair and know it wont hurt them but also show them what to do in it and if u want to get creative they have toilet toys mainly for boys or use cherios and make a game of see who can sink the most or hit the most worked with my youngest but it is never to late to introduce the chair they have some chairs that when pottied in make music too i started introducing after they got rid of bottle and got toddler bed so that made it easier................good luck i watch a lil boy that is 4 and he not even been introduced and beleive me at that age it is horrible to change dirty diapers!!!!

I statred potty training at 3 years old, but it only took a few months to get fully potty trained, girls train faster then boys. Some maymsay that 3 years old is late, but when your reay your ready.

Who are you talking about? When did I start Potty Training? The kid i have or me? I don't have a kid.

I have 2 boys, two years apart, I had my first one trained 2 months before he was 2. The second was 20 months old. Good luck!
