I have chicken in my frig and i jsut realized it said to be used or frozen by july 28th.

I would not use it. Some might say that it is only 2 days past the date but it is not worth taking the chance. Here is a chart for use and times of poultry http://www.azdhs.gov/phs/oeh/fses/sfstt_dt2.htm

Smell is the best way if it smells bad get rid of it if it doesn't then cook it very well past 170 degrees, if you have stored it correctly and not let it get warm and then re-chilled it it may be OK but the nose is the best Guide.

Use your nose. If it doesn't smell fresh, toss it. Make darned good and sure that if you use it, you cook it all the way to the bone to 175 degrees Fahrenheit!!

I wouldn't take a chance feeding it to your kids. They are more susceptible to food-borne illnesses than adults are.
