Whenever something good happens they'll say Amen! Praise God! blah blah blah But when something bad happens, they say," Oh that was the devil! What a load of B.S.! I thought God was supposed to be all powerful. Isn't it fair to say that when something bad happens, God ALLOWED it to happen? Don't the scriptures say the devil only has what power God allows him to have? What do you think?

"Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?"

Your right God does allow bad things to happen but there's a reason. The bible which is Gods instruction book for mankind is largely ignored by mankind, even so called christians. The evils we do bring troubles on others besides ourselves.
God is love & sometimes love has to be tough in order for us to learn lessons.
Have you noticed the trouble Israel now, which is trouble for everyone else. The United States supports Israel, but lately here in the U.S in our churches anything goes. Its ok to be gay & a preacher or church member. Our morals are going down so our problems our going up. The truth is Gods way is not mans way. If we don't turn to God then things are going to get much, much worse. When we stand before God Almighty & we've lived an imoral life & we say I'm a baptized member of such & such church , God is going to say depart from me "I never knew you"

There is such athing as God's permissive will. It would allow me to run rampid killing innocent people willy nilly. Now if I should do that. Do you choose to blame God? Or am I responsible? Heres the deal you can easily find these truths in the Bible and in prayer but heres a nudge to get you started. God created the world and all that there is. He created man and man was perfect but unlike God who is infallible God created beings which were falible why? Good question he could have created beings that were programed to react as he would react little bot people guess that wasnt what he was looking for so he gave these people free will which would have worked out wonderful had we all been little God's or robots. But what we have here is a man with a sinful nature. Which was the case with the first of God's creation. Now because of this sin nature God gave man the law to show him where he erred. This had an affect but as I said his nature was to sin. So what we have acomplished so far is showing man he is not Holy and needs God. Well the fact of the matter is that God is Holy and Righteous. So the deal we are left with is a man who deserves to be punished in this case destroyed as he is unfit. If your still with me God had a plan to save his creation. God had mercy on the man because even though he was sinful God loved him anyway. So God's righteousness called for mankinds death but God's mercy and love wanted man to be saved. God had a plan for his sinful creatures that would help them to be better he would come to the world and suffer the same temptations as man and overcome sin and die for all who would accept him. Now if your still with me this far this is where we are in the current progression of mankind. Some people accepted the atonement of Christ and were then saved by faith. Now he who endures to the end is truly saved but these people have faith that the work will be completed and it is atributed to them as righteousness. Now others have rejected The offer of Christ to die in there place for whatever reason it is there choice God is still allowing them free will.Welcome to the world there you have the current situation. Now the world could be perfected today as you claim you want but the fact is all those who have not been saved would perish possibly even yourself. So to say that bad things are God's fault is to say hey kill me now God I want justice not grace!!! and God would inform you that while this day may be very close he decides when this day is to be. God bless you and may God bless your search for truth.

You are correct. If you realize that God is all-powerful, his magnificence is that much more impressive and awe inspiring. I think some Christians try to justify things that they cannot. It's admirable in some respects, but all it does is put God in a box saying he only has such and such powers. If you really think about it, God can wipe out as many humans as he sees fit for whatever purpose he sees fit; babies, old people, religious leaders, etc., "for all fall short of the glory of God." To really understand that you have to realize your place in the universe, which is nothing. Unless you can truly understand this, you can't grasp the greatness of God. And therein lies the proble, many, many people can't understand this - or don't want to because it is a scary realization.

God allows satan to do as he wills on this earth. Remember satan is god of the world. We have a choice to go to God and see what He can do through us.

God only tests His own and never tempts or can be tempted. God is the only GOOD that is known. Nobody is as good as the one in heaven.

What we have to remember is man is automatically born into sin and we (man) screws everything up that God places here on earth. Remember God made everything perfect and man came along and screwed everything up.

Let us look at something, when we do something that is of God then we should turn to God and yes praise Him. When we do something evil then it is of our flesh and essentially bad - once we are tempted we go into sin and that sin that is full born leads to death and not the life that God wants to give to us. You can look in Proverbs and it will tell you exactly what God detests and Hates - yes HATES. Also in Galatians it states exactly what is from the holy spirit and that (those gifts - fruit) is only from God.

Everything else that is not of God is of the world or satan.

I give God honor, glory and praise for all works, as the Devil is only given the power to do what God allows him - many have the mistaken notion that Satan is free to do what he wants - he's only free to roam, but must ask God's permission to actually interfere in the life of a person, and for the most part, he's only going to interfere in the life of a Christian to try to get them to rebuke Christ or in the life of someone under conviction to stop them from accepting Christ. God is in control of all, we may not understand what we perceive as bad and why it must happen, but we do not understand God's ways and thoughts but must accept by faith that he has reasons for allowing them - and it's usually that we will see the errors of our own abilities and learn to trust that his are much better than ours.

Christians do attribute bad things to God in some cases, often calling it a punishment.

For instance, when New Orleans got hit by Katrina, there were some Christians saying it was punishment from God due to the Mardis Gras celebration or whatever.

(No - I don't agree with the above statement.)

There are those who say that Hurricane Katrina was God's work, because it was punishing all the evildoers in the New Orleans area.

I'm sure all the church-going Christians in New Orleans who were affected, displaced, or killed appreciate the sentiment.

Personally, I think that's like using a shotgun instead of a flyswatter, and it boggles my mind that folks think that's not only a reason, but a GOOD reason.

In a way your right, if God has the power to control the devil then why not do something about it. Its a bit like getting your dog off the lead and getting it **** all over your front yard.

Bingo. It's impossible to credit 'God' for things that go right without also blaming 'God' for what goes wrong. Christianity did an extreme makeover on the Jewish concept of "Satan", which to a point allows them to see 'God' as not responsible for the bad things his angel Satan does -- but such a schizophrenic idea of 'God' implies that 'God' is not omnipotent.

"SecondStar" deserves the points on this one.
