Hardware for Windows Vista Ultimate?

What hardware should I install in my desktop PC which will perform all the features and functions of Windows Vista Ultimate FAST and SMOOTHLY?

Again at this point, all we can give you are ideas but here are some general recommendations:

Dual core processor
1GB to 2GB of memory (the more the better)
40GB+ hard drive (Vista occupies 8GB installed)
dedicated video card with 128MB to 512MB of memory (the faster the card and the more memory, the better) - for running Aero Glass and the 3D GUI
DVD drive required (no CD-Rom versions of Vista will be made)

Here are my specs:
AMD Athlon 64x2 3800+
Dual Geforce 7600GS 256MB graphics cards SLi
dual DVDRW drives
dual 160GB hard drives
and other equally impressive hardware

My laptop has:
Core Duo T2300 at 1.66GHz
1GB of DDR2 memory
Radeon X1600 with 128MB dedicated memory
120GB hard drive
15.4" Display

So you're going to need a fairly powerful system to run Vista smoothly, of course if you turn off Aero Glass and the 3D effects then the requirements to run that drop dramatically.

Or you can just run the Vista Upgrade Advisor, http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/getready/upgradeadvisor/default.mspx but it's in Beta and I don't exactly trust Microsofts requirements.

To give you and idea; here are my specs:

CPU - AMD 4200 Dual Core
RAM - 1 GB
Video Card - ATI Radeon 1900XTX
Hard Drive - Wester Digital 10,000 Rpms

I am running Build 5472 and Visa Screams! I find the OS faster than XP!


P.S. I have a reletive performace rating of 4.
