My husband went out to water the garden today and noticed my daschuhund will not move. When she tries to her back legs move but she just goes backwards. My husband tried to pick her up and she yelped from pain.
Before you say take her to the vet they are closed in my area and we do not have any money to take her to an emergency care they demand payment upfront.
does anyone know of anyway to make her comfortable until tomorrow when we can get her to the vet?
also, does anyone know what might be wrong with her?

Also, she is leaning on her right hind leg and her two front legs and up. So she is like sitting up. If you know what I mean?

As a vet tech of 25 years and one who worked works with an orthopedic vet now I can safely tell you she has most likely compressed a disk. Pick her up while keeping her back straight. Put her in a small carrier. The smaller the better. Try to keep her very still. Then call the ER and explain your problem. Tell them you don't have money for x-rays but would like to get the dog started on some anti inflammatories, and pain meds so she can be comfortable until you can get to the vet tomorrow. If you move her the wrong way or she moves herself she can actually paralyze herself. Do NOT give any aspirin, tylenol, etc.. NO MEDS without the authorization of a vet. If you can't get to the ER then just keep her as quite and as still as possible and pull all food and water by midnight tonight and take her to the vet first thing in the AM. You are pulling food and water so they can put her under anesthesia if needed.
I repeat... NO MEDS. Aspirin is a blood thinner. If you give it and she needs surgery no reputable vet will cut on her tomorrow.

Daxies are very prone to spinal injuries and slipped discs.try not to move her too much as you could cause more damage.Borrow money from a friend or family member , this is a potentially dangerous problem and waiting will leave her in pain plus could once again make things much worse.try keeping her warm and comfortable because she could go into shock.Carry her by holding her under the neck and around the back end,not from the chest or stomach-if possible move her on a flat board or put papers around her to let her relive herself without having to move.Watch carefully for lethargy, not eating or drinking. If possible hand feed her so she does not have to lower her head or use her neck very much.Make sure she is urinating and defecating -if for some reason she is not due to the spinal injury you have no choice but to go to a vet-emerg or not as that is life threatening.Good Luck!!

No idea what might be wrong. Daschuhunds are known to get spinal injuries pretty easily. To keep her comfortable, put her in a nice quiet place in the house. Give her a sheet or blanket to lay on. Put her food and water bowl w/ her. Limit her movement as much as possible. Watch her carefully till u can get her to the vet. I hope she will be ok. Just remember, going to the vet will be the only way to find out what may have happened. Good Luck.

I use to raise dashounds.
Let me tell ya, every vet is going to tell ya to put her down.
What is happening to your dog is a common occurrance in dashounds due to thier week spines.
If you find a good vet who knows dashounds well you can rehabiilitate her like we did with my favorite dashound. (her name was tanya).
However it will take alot of effort on your part to do this. She will have to be strapped to a small dolly and restricted to a 4'4' area.
PLEASE.. be careful on how you pick her up. With the injuries she now has, pickin her up wrong can kill her in seconds. I would suggest you find the vet first then move her from her spot.
Right now at least put her food and water with in reach and confine the area she is in. She is in alot of pain so she might snap at you so keep a great distance.
you will need to get a sedative for her before you move her also.
I sure hope this helps, and good luck... I know it was a painful experience for me but Tanya was a survivor.

Check and see if her eyes are clear and she is breathing normally. Then check for injuries. Is she confined to your yard? Could she have fallen or been hit by a car? If you can't get to a vet today, move her carefully to a blanket and bring her in the house. Keep her warm. Give her water if she will drink. I would hold off on food in case it is a bowel obstruction. If you suspect internal injuries, give her nothing until you can get to the vet.

Aspirin (NOT acetaminophen) is okay to give dogs when they are in pain.
Your dog may have had a seizure. This is caused by certain foods, so refrain from giving your dog any people food.
Also, dachsunds are known for their back problems, so she may have injured something in spine and/or nerves. Try not to move her too much.
Please get her to the vet as soon as you can.

It's sad that you think people here are able to accurately diagnose what sounds like it could be a serious medical problem.
Sorry, but keep reading these questions and you'll feel cynical too. I wish your dog much luck for a speedy recovery.

I had a bassett Hound , she got like that she had Kidney failure. I am not saying that is what's wrong with your dog though. Just keep it in the house if possible { so another animal doesn't hurt it} and keep it as comfortable as you can.
