SD and MMD are just types of memory cards. SD is newer and more common in stores today.

There are several other types of memory cards that will not fit in your new camera. (CF (compact Flash), MS (memory stick, XD, etc.).

There are several brands. Pick a familiar name brand in the size you want, and look for a good price. Sales and rebates are frequent.
