No, it won't. Brushing a tooth that is sore can sometimes help ease the pain, but this is only temporary and will only give a very short relief. The only sure fire way to get rid of toothache is to take a visit to your dentist who will find out exactly why it is giving pain and deal with it accordingly. In the meantime, painkillers can help, so can oil of cloves rubbed on the affected area. But, these are just relief from the ache, a dentist visit will sort it out.

a toothache can be serious! you may have an abscess that's just starting and if your gums begin to swell, that is a sure indicator. An abscess is no joke and can put you in the hospital. there is nothing over the counter that will "stop" a toothache. orajel is only temporary and only works if the pain is very moderate. taking extra strength tylenol will take the edge off, until you can get in to see a dentist. I strongly urge you to see a dentist as soon as possible! You may just have a cavity, but when the pain becomes real severe that means you have an infection. if that's the case, the dentist will give you an oral antibiotic to clear it up and then work on your teeth.

Use ulcer gel or even better, baby teething gel, as they contain really good anaesthetic (the latter is more effective and longer lasting though.) Just note that sometimes the flavour isn't very nice. Aspirin swilled round the tooth is good too, but if the pain continues for more than three days, best see the dentist.

For pain from newly adjusted braces, just use aspirin, Tylenol or Advil, whatever you'd use for a headache. Follow the label directions for your proper dose.
