rig a harness in the tub for him or just let him sit...imobalized people in nursing homes need harnessing at bath time to prevent drowning so the same kind of thing may work for your pooch.

You can either bathe him while he is sitting I have a pom that has bad knee caps so i have to bathe her this way or if you have additional help you can have someone else make a sort of sling to go under his midsection to keep him up while you bathe him I have a cat that came into the humane society after being caught in a steel trap he had his foot cut off we had to amputate at the hip because he kept reinjuring it and I'm glad to say that Hobbes has been a part of my familys lives now for 5 yrs his only problems are he cant scratch his head and at the end of an very active day he asks to be lifted to the bed normally he uses hes 1 rear leg and jumps right up as for the scratching I have provided him with lost of mediums so that he can scratch on his own plus my fingers :)

If you're serious about this question... there are things you cand do. Do you bathe your dog in the tub? If you do, PetSmart carries these Rinse Ace Bathing Tethers. They suction cup to the tub and hold up around your dogs shoulders/neck. This should help stabilize him. If you bathe him outside, just let him lean against you while you bathe him. We have an old dog that can no longer stand for long periods of time because of bad back legs and it's a two person job now since he gets bathed outside. One has to hold his tail end up while spreading shampoo and the other scrubs and rinses.
Good luck.

Have him sit in the bathtub. It works just as well. I used to bathe dogs for a living. When one came in that only had 3 legs, I just had them sit instead of stand. good luck. sorry that happened to your dog.

Tripod will regain some balance in time, but he will never be really correct. Just kind of hold him as you wash him.

I have seen many three legged dog and cats and they can all stand pretty well.
I guess if he can't, have him sit.

Depending on his size, you might be able to find something like a step stool to place under his belly. It can't be too tall and it can't be too short.
Good luck!
