As Sir J said, OpenOffice, http://www.openoffice.org/ but note that if you have computers in the classroom they are probably using MS Office. I cannot guarantee how a presentation made using Impress will appear in PowerPoint, if it will open at all. That being said, if you have a laptop and the classroom has a projector, you could do it that way.

There are other applications but I think Powerpoint is the best and has far more options.

you could use flash or any video application to be honest

powerpoint is just supposed to be 'easier' and more 'compatible'
