I was put on "the pill" about a month ago to regulate my cycle, if you will. But then, this past Wednesday I was givin a shot. I didn't have a problum until Thursday when I woke up with a horrible migrane. My parents at first thought it was a reaction to the shot but now my mom says it may be because of the pill. I get them about 3 or 4 times a day & they are SUPER painful. They even wake me up at night so I'm not sleeping good either. I take things like tylonal & advil & my parents gave me imatrex from when my mom used to get these suicide headaches [so they are nicknamed that.] Mom said she was gonna call the doctor on Monday but idunno if I can wait that long. I seems so far away & with these being so constant...i dunno. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do?

As someone that suffers from migraine you need to see your doctor right away to get them under control. You shouldn't be taking medication that was prescribed for your mother. You never know you could have allergic reaction plus you are on other meds that might not work with someone elses medications.

My migraines are triggered by dehydration need to drink caffeine free beverages I slam water all day. Another cause is hormones and stress can not fix them. Also certain foods trigger migraines, mine is onions and onion powder. Keep a food journal so many foods like nuts and aged cheese can cause them. Go to web doctor MD lots of info. Having a genetic disposition does not help. Migraines are caused by blood vessels constricting so write everything down for the next week being at computer looking down can cause it. If you get another go to the ER they can actually be something else and having mom's scrip is way bad idea could mask symptom of something else good luck.

I used to get cluster migraines so mainly on one side of my head and they would be excruciatingly painful. Mine were stress related though I understand food can be trigger points for migraine such as cheese and chocolate. Eventually my doctor prescribed Verapamil and I have not had a migraine since. My advice would be to see your doctor so that they can assess whether it is a migraine, find your trigger points and treat as appropriate.
The other thing is its not advisable to take meds prescribed to someone else, better that you get medications prescribed to your own health requirements although I know that when the pain is really bad you will take almost anything to relieve it.

See a doctor!

Do you live somewhere where marijuana is legal? If so, that's the best cure I know. That and orgasm.

Migraines are caused by circulation problems in the head, and both the above remedies deal with that directly, rather than the pain-killer style, which has the side effect of making you stupid and sleepy. (Well, both of the above remedies may make you sleepy, but in a healthy way.)
