Most rapture scripture is the second coming. Well I guess it all is all that I have seen anyway. If Jesus' life is the patern for the church It is obvious they will not be raptured. If Jesus was not raptured from the cross why would the be raptured from the world?

The Bible does not state that ONLY 144,000 will be "raptured".
The 144,000 are taken from the tribulation:
Rev 7:14 I said to him, "Sir, you know." Then he told me: These are the ones coming out of the great tribulation. They washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
Rev 14:3 They sang a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and the elders, but no one could learn the song except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth.
The number "raptured" is untold. Be ready.
Mat 24:39 They didn't know until the flood came and swept them all away. So this is the way the coming of the Son of Man will be:
Mat 24:40 Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and one left.
Mat 24:41 Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and one left.
Mat 24:42 Therefore be alert, since you don't know what day your Lord is coming.
1Th 4:14 Since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, in the same way God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep through Jesus.
1Th 4:15 For we say this to you by a revelation from the Lord: We who are still alive at the Lord's coming will certainly have no advantage over those who have fallen asleep.
1Th 4:16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the archangel's voice, and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.
1Th 4:17 Then we who are still alive will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and so we will always be with the Lord.

The Rapture is one event in a series of events during the end times. The only question is whether 144,000 was a symbolic number, rather than an exact one. Remeber, the Bibles using certain numbers, like 40, a lot. 40 days of rain for Noah, 40 years of wandering for Moses.
The other point is, "who cares!". We are still a ways off from the end times, so just live your life to the best of your beliefs.

Luke 21: 27-28,
Matthew 24: 13 & 31
Rev 21:7
Out of all creation you think only 144,000 will be taken into the New Jerusalem? No wonder the JW's always look so depressed.
The 144,000 are the tribulation saints only, the jews who Ministered to GOd during the final tribulation. THis is one interpretation of this. I would not let that Become a stumbleing block to my relationship with Jesus the Risen King However. He can come back any way He wants.
He is God incarnate. He can do anything overcome anything.

I Thessalonians 4:13-18 speaks of the rapture of the Church as "the DEAD IN CHRIST shall rise first." It refers to the dead in Christ or Christians gone on before. The 144,000 you speak of are not dead! They are 12,000 from each of the 12 tribes of Israel (except for Dan and Epharim who are substituted for with Jacob and Benjamin, but that's another story) who partway through the Tribulation are miraculously converted to the truth and ordained to preach to the world in one last great sweeping revival. Read the verses I mentioned to get an example of what the Rapture will be like. The word "Rapture" isn't in the Bible, but it comes from a Latin word RAPARE which means "to snatch away or take away quickly." This is how the event of the Second Coming got the name Rapture.

The word rapture appears nowhere in the Bible.
The closest approximation of a rapture is the activity in which the angels gather the elect from the 4 winds (Matthew 24;31).
However this occurs AFTER the tribulation (see verse 29).

right it is the real deal with reference to the Rapture .... Pre-tribulation rapture theology became greater interior the 1830s by using John Nelson Darby and the Plymouth Brethren,[12] and popularized contained in united states of america interior the early twentieth century by using the huge flow of the Scofield Reference Bible.[13] there are a number of perspectives between Christians with reference to the timing of Christ's return (which includes no count if it is going to take place in one experience or 2), and assorted perspectives with reference to the holiday spot of the aerial amassing defined in a million Thessalonians 4. Denominations which contain Roman Catholics,[7] Orthodox Christians,[8] Lutheran Christians,[9] and Reformed Christians[10] have self belief in a rapture only interior the sense of a wide-unfold very final resurrection, while Christ returns a single time. they have not got self belief that a team of human beings is left at the back of on the earth for an prolonged Tribulation era after the activities of a million Thessalonians 4:17.[11]

The rapture as taught by many is a real stretch of the imagination not faith. When the Son of man returns for his people it will be as the lightening shines from the east to the west, all that is going to Heaven go at the same time. The will be no question as to what is happening, Christ will not come as a thief in the night and steal some of your friends.

It's already (2006AD) too late for any rapture theories; since the last (not just past) millennium had two (false/true) ends, Y2K being the false end. And not to mention it had a 3 1/2 yr (42 mo) countdown from Grenich, beginning in June 1996; making it too late now for any of the pre-mid-post trib rapture theories. Not to mention what's exhorted is "endure to the end", and notably to be saved(only) by grace(only).
The "grace" of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.
