It will still be alright to just get the boosters. People all the time forget to bring their pets in and they are late. It just makes the pet more suseptable to the parvo virus. And it means that you need to keep the puppy inside longer (they aren't supposed to be out in the yard or any place public where another dog could've deficated in the last 15 yrs- that's how long the parvo virus lives) so they don't have a chance to get it. Some vet's will even bypass a vax if you wait too long to start them.

The only way to tell is to have a blood titre test done. This costs about the same or slightly more than the first set but its the only way to tell if your dog is fully protected.
It involves taking a sample of blood, then adding some of the virus, then measuring how much the blood reacts. Since there are 4 vaccines, that's 4 tests. (Parvo, distemper, hardpad, leptospirosis).
The tetanus jab analogy doesn't stand up, when dogs are tested after a year their antibody levels drop if they have not come into contact with the virus. So annual boosters are necessary, but they are an average. Some dogs levels will be lower and some higher. You can't tell without testing.
Most vets will be happy to use the booster if its really only a month late.

Some vets only do boosters every 3 years, so don't worry your dog will be ok and a friend of mine just did the same thing (forgot by about 2 mths) and wasn't told to have a complete course again.

It depends which booster? the normal ones or rabies. If you are using the pet passport, i would consult your vet because the rabies vaccine is produced by more than one laboratory and the validation period ranges from 1 or 2 years. If it is for distemper and the multi jab, then a month should not be a big problem, it is the Rabies one that is important. But only for the pet passport because Britain does not have a rabies vaccine policy, unlike the rest of Europe, where it is law.

The reason for doing a series of vaccines is that they do not know exactly when the antibioties from the mother's milk where off. They think that it is around 16 weeks of age. So either, depending on the age of yours, she will either still be protected by mom's milk or has no protection at all right now.

From what I understand, vaccines are not an exact science. If you do not get them exactly on time, it is not a big deal. Unless your vet is real picky about doing shots on time, you should be fine with going ahead and just getting the booster and the dog will be protected.

Well there is a big debate over all this.... When you are a kid you have 1 lot of injections then maybe 1 set of boosters??? Well why does you dog need them every year is it not the same thing???
They say you only need 3 tetanus injections now and you are covered for life.

No you will not need to pay for another lot of 1st vacines. Your dog will be fine but do go as soon as possible to get it done. All it means is that instead of going one month early next year it will be one month later. The boosters last one year.

Give your dog a pat and biscuit from me please. Thanks
