I would venture to guess that the allergy injections are just steriod injections to stop the itching for a month. People come to our office all the time & say they want an allerjy inj & that's what their asking for. It's a short term fix. You need to have your dog allergy tested. It's very expensive , normally $350-$500, but it will give you a comprhensive list of all the things your dog is allergic to, foods, grasses, hayfevers, the whole thing. Then you can start your pet on true allergy injections called RAST injections. This is a serum that the company who did the testing makes up that has all the things your dog is allergic to. In very small doses (starts every other day. then every third day, then fourth, etc... until you get to one month intervals) and your pets body starts to adapt to have the allergens in it's body.

I agree with the answers you have received. I think your vet should be able to find out what the allergic reaction is. Most dogs react well to a vitamin supplement such as Linatone which helps dry skin and improves the dog's fur or coat. It worked quite well on my friends spaniel. You might try changing the dog's diet per your vets opinion. You can always get a second opinion if your current vet cannot find where the allergic reaction is coming from.
Good Luck!

What you need to do is try a hypoallergenic diet and have testing for specific allergies. The dog HAS an allergy and the vet needs to do testing like with humans, to find out what the dog is allergic to. Then they can make a specific serum for your dog that will desensitize the dog and make him feel better. that may be the only way, aside from steroids, to ge the sog to feel better. And steroids are not a good option long term!!!!!
