I have had three experiences of near death and I will say there is nothing to fear about death from the flesh unless you are stuck in some dark place. I did not experience that. I was in the mind of God at the point of creation and experiencing a non-stop show of energy being projected on the void, in forms and colors that are unexplainable. From there I had a choice of staying or leaving and there was the presence of other spirits there with one that was obviously superior. there was communication with thought or energy that seems to be absorbed rather then spoken even though it translated into recognizable words or thoughts if you will. Since words paint pictures in your mind, I guess it was just the pictures being transmitted somehow. Most of the experiences were unexplainable, but all were beautiful and all were the same. The sameness was what gave me the confirmation as to the reality of the experience.
No there is nothing to fear, quite the opposite.
If you could imagine being at the very point of where water is transformed into a snowflake and being able to see each one as it was created, that is as close as I can explain it. It is beautiful at the point of creation and that is where I believe the mind of Christ dwells.
In all three experiences God gave me the choice if I wanted to stay or return to flesh. He also carefully explained all of the options as to where I would be of the most value for now.

I've had one bad car accident and once a dive accident and nearly drowned. First of all, forget the Hollywood crap. At the moment when it happens, you don't "think". Everything's happening very fast and the brain goes on overload and you freeze up physically, but you're still conscious of everything around you. THAT is the terrifying feeling that you get when you think you're about to die until you actually pass out and then there's nothing, no feeling, no sensation, just "black". ... no grand light in the distance or any of that hokey nonsense.

i did. I nearly died when i was still in gradeschool. I had dengue fever and pneumonia and stayed in the hospital for weeks.
One night, when everyone thought i was asleep my doctor talked to my mom and told me that i had 50-50 possibility of surviving. (becuase during those times, dengue still doesnt hava a cure or something)...when i heard that i started crying. I prayed to God that night and told him that i'm not ready to die...i still need to do some things...i cried myself to sleep that night...
a miraculous thing happened the next day, my doctor announced to the family that i'm already in the recovering mode. as if the disease suddenly disappeared from my system...

from then on....my connection with GOd is stronger and ii dont fear death..`cause i know God will be there to guide me
