I should think that a person would identify whether a question is requiring a witty, funny, or joke of an answer. My impression is that many of the questions are serious in nature. The people are sincere about obtaining a sincere answer. If answerers are less than cordial about a flip answer, it may be that the issue has been one of significance in their own life!!!

The people I like most are not the ones asking or answering the questions, but the ones who feel a need to correct other people's spelling or grammar. How sad is that? there's something very small minded about it. They'd need a sherper to find their way out of their own ars. It's takes a lot more than that for me to think that someone's intelligent or has a superior intellect to mine, or anyone else for that matter. These are the people I'd like to meet in a dark alley. There's nothing wrong with writing the way you talk, at least the majority of people know what you're talking about and enjoy giving some light hearted feedback. I think these 'grow up' and 'guff' people fall in to the same category.

Some questions are bait and switch . They have a racist or obviously un- American content and people react with emotion before logic in the hot topic questions.
people do not always read the entire content of the question anything that is not in bold type or too long for them to waste time reading much less understand.
Some queries are deliberate orchestrated prejudges and if you don't answer you feel you are supporting those opinions. You just cant pass by things like that and be a concerned, caring intelligent human being. I know this is not what you wanted to hear because most people don't really want a dissenting view they only want affirmation of their opinions on any subject.....

This is the issue with free speech. I am all for silliness and such like, but if you are to ask a racist question for a laugh, what does it say about you?
It is fine and dandy to make racist type comments among friends, people who know you and understand the context in which the comment is mad.
Unforuantely, this is typing anotmously and others may not understand the joke.
Saying that I have violation notices for asking the most ridiculous questions that could never have been misinterpreted as a joke.
So I guess some people just have a stick up their ***>

At first I took the questions that I answered seriously, but then last night I ran across a questions asking "If a mute swears does his mom wash his hands with soap?" I know it is kind of cruel but I found that question to be the funniest one I have seen on here, and now I am thinking about answering questions no matter what context they are in or about. Life is too short to be a serious snobby a$$ho!e, and I can defintely tell you that from experience. I have been accused of being too serious and that is not how I want to be perceived by pretty much anyone.

I thought the same thing the other day and nearly asked the same question. Someone asked why we couldn't forgive Hitler if we could forgive Bob Carolgees or something like that. Many people answered and obviously didn't known who Bob (of Spit the dog fame) was and went off it with the asker. People should realise that some people just ask silly questions because they're bored and want bit of a laugh.

It just shows that some people can't differentiate between a serious question and an amusing anecdote....
Here's a joke.
A mans wife of 20 years dies and her body is cremated, as the smoke rises from the chimney the man says to his friend "you know what, that is the first time I've ever seen her looking hot.

Your question is also rhetorical, you ask and answer your own question. If this forum was meant to be a joke, then I am certain that only witless people would bother to open it....but there are sane and thinking people that ask intelligent questions beyond their ken, and hope for an intelligent answer. Likewise there is boundless knowledge available for intelligent questions. However juveniles and morons persist in responding as you have mentioned, doing nothing for others and only showing their own stupidity. It take intelligence to answer intelligently.

I think the issue is freedom of speech and if a person does not like something, it is perfectly all right to respond. This is not a mutual admiration society. It is a place for dialog. If a person wants to take something seriously, that is their right. If they find something more power to them. Some questions invite meaningful responses and others solicit stupid responses...no big deal. What you think is "obvious" might be a sensitive area for others eg. blond jokes are not necessarily funny to blonds.

Let me sincerely request you to renounce the idea of entering the Yahoo Q&A page; because even though there are number of time killer fellows, but there are lots of folk who really wish to get proper guidance and friendly advice from intelligent, family and resolved persons. Just have a look especially in "Family matters", you will not how grave situations people wish to put forth for consideration and wish to seek guidance.
This is really excellent and wonderful platform, Sir.....please don't ruin it.
