Yes you can be convicted. The very same thing happened to me while driving in the left hand lane (America) and slowing down to make an intersection that I had to make a turn on. Well, a Police officer saw where I was in relation to a vehicle passing me in the right hand lane and assumed because the left hand lane usually allows faster traffic that I was the culprit. I emphatically denied any wrong doing and was cited anyways. Wrong? Yes. It is his word versus the officers. My suggestion the next time, have the officer prove it. If he shows you the radar detector that caught you, ask for the certificate that shows a certification. Note the time, traffic conditions, officers badge number, etc. If you can show that the radar gun was not certified, or that his speeding was done at a time of the night or day when there was little or no traffic, you may have a case. I would also suggest getting an attorney, this will cost extra money, yet he may have the conviction removed from his record reducing the chances of an increase in insurance costs (America). Hey good luck to ya!

a million - gatso cameras do no longer would desire to be brightly painted or have strips in them until the money derived could be channelled back to the close by authority for velocity and safety measures. 2. - the trucks are left rather seen as a deterrent the theory being they'd somewhat be seen and have not absolutely everyone rushing. 3 - there does not would desire to be an illustration on the stretch of street in contact to make conviction possible although they do in many cases use one returned as a deterrent. You have been travelling at 6 mph over a 30 shrink that's 20% over velocity - no longer 1mph. in step with probability in case you were a million mph over at 31mph you will have reason to moan. As you weren't you would be paying the high quality and getting factors as they have now closed up each and all of the minor loopholes that existed a whilst in the past. the money under no circumstances is going to the Police and that they under no circumstances see a earnings from it. the money now all is going to critical government and then close by government prepare for funds for safety advancements with cameras now being honestly the final motel.

If the officer wrote out a ticket he obviously has some sort of backing evidence either by radar, or matching his speed against your BF's so. . . yeah he can be convicted, best thing to do is ask for some help on the ticket, most officers and judges will allow some leanway

The cop is a sworn officer, which means he must tell the truth. Because he must tell the truth, the judge will believe his word over yours. Since a speeding ticket can result in points on your license which tranlates into higher insurance fees, I suggest admitting to the speeding but ask the judge for fines in lieu of points on your license. The judge is more likely to accept this plea.

I do not think you are in the US, but here you will not win if the cop used a calibrated speed gun. They can use this in court.
One thing I can say to do is if you know someone in the car industry at a dealership you could get something from them that shows your speedometer is not working properly and this could possibly help with the penalty.

Experienced officers can quite accurately say your speed using eyes only, and the courts know that
If you go into court with nothing more than "I COULDN'T have been going THAT fast" you will be laughed at and told to pay up before you leave.
The ONLY chance you have is if the officer doesn't show.

a cop don't need a radar detector to pull you over, all he needs to do is look down at his speedometer and he has raesonable cause to pull you over for speeding.
in court the judge will back up the cop, only because a police officer cannot pull you over unless there is a pausible cause.
police officer's have video camera's on the front dash of their car to record all activity of the pull over when the officer has to get out of his vehicle.

Jeez, if your speeding you shouldn't even be driving lol. Thats just stupid If you can't drive the speed limit don't drive. simple as that. Because once you lose control and cross that line and get into a car accident, and you live but kill the person in the other car well your in prison for life lol.

The only way you can really get out of paying the ticket is to tak it to court and hope that the cop who was holding the radar gun doesn't show up.

The cops word is enough evidence. Cameras are a relatively new thing.
