I have noticed that driving on any interstate is getting more and more dangerous everyday. Is it because the people driving are playing video racing games and they don’t understand that when there is an actual crash people in fact people get seriously injured or die? Do they watch movies glorifying reckless driving that are staged by professional stunt crews and think they have acquired these super driving skills through some bizarre form of video-osmosis? Do they watch professional racing and assume they have acquired the skills of driving professionally by watching the sport on television? What is the solution? Do we need more police officers patrolling our nation’s highway? Do we need higher fines or suspended licences? Is the Department of Transportation studying this problem and is there a solution in the foreseeable future? Lots there but I am truly interested in this topic. Thank you for your answers.

someonecanbme... Did you think this a complaint against police officers? Then you are sorely mistaken I was just trying to make an observation and asking a very general question. Don't read too much into it it was not all that deep nor was it a complaint against anyone except the drivers who drive dangerously.

Life is too short not to laugh at yourself. Point taken. By the way supreme ruler of all things how about the Powerball numbers for Wednesday night. Thanks in advance.

Several reasons that more people aren't arrested for dangerous driving: Not enough police officers to monitor all traffic all the time. Hiring more police officers to do this job requires extra funding, which most communities don't have. You can do your part to address the problem by being a courteous and thoughtful driver.
If each driver cared enough to drive cautiously, there would not be a problem. All you can do is make sure you're not part of the problem.

While video games might be one cause, I believe parents could be another. If parents would pay more attention to the driving habits of their children when they are young, the children would be better drivers when they get older. Of course most children behave when their parents are in the car with them. But what is the punishment when the child comes home with a ticket? Do they pay it or make the child pay it? And is there any additional punishment like taking away their keys for awhile? I'm not certain how we could stop bad or dangerous drivers. There just aren't enough law enforcement around when they are needed, simply because there are more civillians then there are cops. Even if roads were all set up with radar control devices, that doesn't stop people from driving the speed limit while pulling out in front of others. The only real solution to this problem could be stiffer fines and removal of drivers license for longer periods for people that are caught behaving badly on our roads.

A few years ago i was driving down the interstate going with the flow of trafic i was being passed but not passing anyone.I got pulled over for speeding.I told the cop i was just going with the flow cuz my speedometer didn't work. Why didn't you stop the people going faster than me?He asked me if I ever went fishing,I said yea of course. He asked me you ever catch all the fish?.He had me there so I just told him only once but it was a small fish tank.He laughed at me told me to get my speedometer fixed and have a nice day.No ticket.Only good cop I ever run across.

Hello this is your God. You Answered my question with a question: There are many ignorant questions posted in this forum. So take your ignorance ans give it to those questions. My question was obviously too thought provoking for an idiot like yourself that opens his uneducated mouth when asked a question that challenges his laziness and discontent for making the world a better place. Plus you should NEVER DISRESPECT YOUR GOD by answering a question with a question. Now beg for my forgiveness or i will grant you a lack-luster afterlife just like it is today....an eternity of complacency...(insert thunder clap here). :)

how many officers do you think patrol your area? is the department short handed? do you think that cops can be in 7 places at once? That was a rhetorical question-huh...do you feel better?

Dangerous drivers fall into the cracks and don't get arrested, because there are so many of them, and law enforcement can't be everywhere at one time.

When they see them, they catch them. The old saying "There's never a cop around when you need one". They can't be everywhere at once.
