The answers you have been sent are a disgrace. You have been to the Vet. who has probably offered the answer, skin problems in dogs are one of the most difficult to pin-point. Go along with your vet.Antibiotics will only cure the infected areas. If the causes are Hormonal you will have to treat that cause. If the cause is an auto-immune problem, then try to keep the dog comfy by treating any infections.Firstly treat for all parasites.

It sounds like you have taken him to the vet, but it might mean you haven't ran the right test. Could be thyroid, allergies or there are more. If your vet has given up, go to another vet with the results of the other tests that have been done and the antibiotics he is taking. Dogs should not just go bald. Good luck.

I took on a dog with eczema. She had large bald patches when I got her. Causes can be stress or household chemicals.
She didn't like loud noises, other dogs, planes overhead so I walked her in the most peaceful surroundings I could find.
I've used environment friendly cleaning products for a long time so that may have helped. Her fur did grow back but she always looked a bit scruffy not like the pedigree Peke she should have been.

If you have taken him to the vet and they have ruled out all 3 kinda of mange then it may be something in the environment.it may be Demodectic Mange, some dogs are always carrying it. It is a weak spot in the immune system that when they get stressed causes it to flare up. I got 2 puppies from the pound and they both looked great when i picked them up and brought them home but soon after their hair started falling out, i guess they stress was too much for them, took them to the vet and treated them and they haven't had a problem since. Good luck~!!!!

if it has happened recently it is quite likely to be food related.some dogs are highly susceptible to man made fibres in carpets and bedding, you can buy hypoallergenic dog beds.many dogs also have severe reactions to fleas which can cause hair loss and excema.the first thing i would do is treat the dog for fleas . spray all carpets and bedding with a good flea bedding spray and then gradually change the dogs diet(over 4-7 days)to either hills sensitive skin or to one of the range of Burns hypoalloginic feeds. it is a common problem but percivere with the food it works

Without knowing the breed and where the baldness is its hard to say what it could be.My dog has two bald patches on her waist which is called seasonal alopecia, the hair can grow back at any time.Has your vet ruled that out? Also could it be a flea allergy?

Some thyroid disorders can be cured, but many require lifetime treatment. Learn here https://tr.im/2IaHB
For example, sometimes early stage thyroid cancer can be cured by surgery to remove the thyroid gland, but you will need to take thyroid hormone medication afterwards for the rest of your life. Goiters can also be surgically removed and do not always recur after surgery. In most cases, thyroid disorders need treatment over a lifetime. However, with treatment most people with thyroid disorders can live normal, healthy lives.

Could be mange. My brother in law's dog went bald from a skin allergy that made him scratch it off. It did grow back after a year.

Stress. Your dog probably has a mental problem. If he had a disease I would think that the vet probably would have found it. Does he live in a loud, noisy atmosphere, or suffer from separation anxiety? I know it sounds wierd, but it's one possible explanation.
