Great question.
Absolutely, it makes you feel good. I saw a kingfisher and 2 woodpeckers within about 5minutes of each other whilst fishing last week. I'm lucky as I have seen pretty much all of the wildlife on offer over here. I would get withdrawal symtons or wonder what's up if I didn't see something like that every day. Who'd live in a stinking city eh?

Its given me a lift reading everyones answers. Its nice to know that there are still people out there that appreciate what we all have. Anyone who cant seem to get into it should volunteer to take a kid for a walk, a nephew, a little cousin or whatever. The look on my 2 year old sons face when he sees a duck, a squirrel a pigeon or whatever is fantastic. Be better if I didnt have to keep an eye out for dog poo because inconsiderate owners walk them in the area, sorry if thats a downer but the message is if your mutt dropped it, PICK IT UP!, and that goes for all trash in the great outdoors. You enjoy and respect it enough to let others do the same.

Yes it does!! Yesterday I went fishing (catch and release) we didnt catch anything though... We saw about 6 Hooded Mergansers and a Caspian Tern, It was soo cool because I saw him dive into the water for a fish and it was the first time I have ever seen one do it! We also saw a Herring gull, a Hare, and what looked like a Great Blue Heron although it was too far away to be sure. We were feeding the little minnows crackers as well and it was fun and we got a kick out of seeing little pieces of crackers swimming around...lol you could not see the minnows well all you could see was the cracker pieces in thier mouth as they swam away..lol It was fun and I love seeing nature it always makes me happy, and fills my spirit with joy at the beauty of the natural world...Thats why I live in the wilderness of Northern Canada, I cant live anywhere else and be nearly as happy because there is way more wildlife here!!

Unfortunately many users of natural areas LOOK, but don't SEE.
I find it quite common to meet joggers and mountain bikers who don't see the natural beauty they are in. Many times I've asked them if they've seen a certain mammal or bird down the trail. Very frequently the answer is no - even for large animals like elk, deer, bighorn sheep, or mountain goats. Apparently they can't or aren't willing to slow their civilized pace of living enough to get into the natural rhythm of nature and so SEE their surroundings, and more fully enjoy the natural world.

It does for me, I live on a river and every day see the wild life and still it is not taken for granted. These wonders of nature give great pleasure all for free and right on our door step! If people took more pleasure in the wildlife around us, then I think as you say, it would help people come to realise world is worth taking an interest in with all it's spendor in nature. Alas materialism is fore most in many people!

Aye. There's nothing like coming across a deer in the woods, or sitting in the early hours of the morning listening to the birds singing.
Isn't nature wonderful?

Yes, I totally agree. Life is there for a reason to be lived. Everyone needs to get up occasionally and go outside. We as a society of people spend to much time out of nature... A few min once in a while never killed nobody.

I feed the birds every morning in my garden and when they come to eat, i sit there sometimes and just watch. I get all sorts
come to dinner crows, magpies, sparrows, pidgeons, seagulls? a little red breast and other breeds i dont know the name of.
I have to say the magpies are nutters they come in a gang of about 6 and fight the other birds, each other and even the stone bird statue in the garden.
Enjoy life and nature today we never know whats gonna happen tomorrow.

Yes, agree, does make one feel better! Where I live, beautiful pink flamingos can be seen on the salt lakes during the summer, I always look forward to seeing them strutting in the water, and seeing the mountains in the background, and then a bit further on, the Med glistening as we drive by ,it always makes me feel better.
