No almost everyone in the US are NOT immigrants, being an immigrant is not a status that is succeeded to the immigrants offspring. Just as being a murderer, or rapist, or thief, is not either. Where someone is born is their native land. I am a native American by virtue of that fact. Just as my parents and grand parents are. Your father being here 27 years only means that he has not been caught for 27 years, and I can only hope he does. He is not above the law any more than I am.

Rafael- You most certainly can come here seeking asylum. I was fooling around with a Russian girl a couple months ago, who's family came to America seeking asylum from religious persecution. She has been here since she was like 2 or 4 or something like that. Another thing, he has no right to petition for ANYTHING, He had the opportunity in the 80's to get amnesty, and he refused it! Why should he be given anything now?

I am sorry that your family is in this situation. What you and all on this site must understand is that laws are created for a reason. When your father came into this country, illegally, he broke a law.

In the 80's, there was the opportunity to fix this. Amnesty was given to all illegals here. If your father was here, why didn't he remedy this problem?

Now, if ICE...Border Patrol...were to find out this information, they would have Just Cause to remove your father. Then the legal members of the family would have to make the decision to stay here or to return with your father.

A lot of people in America are angry about this issue. For good reason....if you have the time and want to learn why we are so angry, you need to investigate sites that discuss why we feel the way we do

I am sure your father is a good dad and that he does many positive things. I am concerned that in order to work, he would have used another person's identity...that is a serious thing and a big reason that this has become the hot issue it is.

Good luck.

27 years. So he would have come here in the seventies. Can't he and other fellow dads make a petition for some consideration. They surely must have contributed something to the US economy.

Why does he want to live like a fugitive all his life in a land that doesn't respect or want him? He's probably done it for you and your siblings.

Well, that's life. This is not the 1600s any more. Where, if you were persecuted in your land, you could escape to the New World. Even for America's original colonists, not everything was nice and goody. There were terrible native attacks, lack of farming techniques, disease... and all sorts of suffering.

Every one is an Immigrant to this continent. Even the Native Americans came from Asia.

Things are different today, (and have been for about 100 years). The population has grown to the point that it is necessary to regulate who comes and goes, how long they stay etc.

Illegal for 27 years and still hasn't got caught.. That is pretty amazing. Amazing too that he has had 6 kids. THANK YOU FOR ALLOWING MY TAXES TO GO UP. THANK YOU FOR BRAKING OUR LAWS. Yes "almost" everybody is an immigrant form somewhere. WE still have laws.

That is too bad that you are proud of someone that has broken the law. This whole thing is about the law. You have been given citizenship by birth, I would think that your father after all these years would have wanted to become a citizen. I wonder why he hasn't ?

Yes this nation is filled with immigrants. Are you bragging your father broke the law and never corrected it? What is your question?
