I think she has reached the point where it is necessary to admit the truth...
But there are ways of saying it ...
Try telling her this way:..
Yes, Father Christmas does exist...he is in your parents love for you, and will be there for all your life, You will find him in every christmas gift that is given you with their love. And you will pass him on to the next generation when one day you have your own children.
Father Christmas is the spirit of giving, he lives in every generous heart. That is why he lives forever, even though he isn't really a little, fat, old bearded man coming down a chimney!

It depends on how old she is.I think that you should sit her down and tell her the truth. If she is begging you to be honest with her then why lie.I don't think that she will look stupid at school kids can be cruel. With some kids you tell them the truth about santa and they still want to believe.I found out about santa when i was 7years old and 2years i pretended i didn't know to get more gifts. My sister told my parents and after that it was a few gifts from "mom and dad".Be honest with her the kids told her already just in a mean way tell her in a nice way.

Tell her that it is time that she learn the truth about Father Christmas (aka Santa Clause).
Tell her that as children, we are taught to believe that Father Christmas is a man who lives in the north pole, keeping track of all the childred who are naughty and nice....
Then tell her that this is to help us so that when we are older, we understand the true spirit of Father Christmas. As we get older, we believe in what the Christmas Spirit stands for. Explain your views of the Christmas spirit and how a physical "Father Christmas" helps to keep the Christmas Spirit inside throughout the holiday season as well as the rest of the year (be nice this year or you will get a lump of coal in your stalking! ;o} )
I hope this helps. Good luck.

This reminds me of the time my kids wanted to go to Disneyland, and I didn't have the money. so I drove by a burned out warehouse building. and pointed out that Disneyland burned down and we couldn't go there.
So what you could do is get a pair of father Christmas pants. stuff them with newspapers to fill them out. attach a pair of boots to the pants. then place them under the edge of a parked vehicle and point out that father Christmas was ran over and is now dead.
I'd suggest pouring some red colored sauce around the area to simulate blood, but, you did mention she was "sensitive" so don't do that part.
If it were me, I would put an empty whiskey bottle nearby and a bag of oregano (to simulate marijuana). And tell her that he was wandering around drunk and high. That way you could give a lasting impression on the misuses of drugs and alcohol. A lesson all children need to learn.

From your question it seems obvious that "now" would be the optimum time.........
My son was 4 when one Christmas he blurted out that - "everyone knows its (Santa) the Dads and Mums....." So I carefully explained to him that maybe it was and maybe it wasn't, but a sure way to find coal in your stocking instead of toys was to go around saying it.
He's 12 now and I haven't heard another bloody word about "its the Dads and Mums" ever since........

when kids tell me that they dont believe in santa claus i ask them if they believe in Jesus Christ.
Then I ask if they have ever seen Jesus. Is He real?
Then I say, "You tell me that you believe in Jesus and that He is real yet you have never seen him, if you can believe in Jesus, why can't you believe in Santa Claus?"
