I dunno! maybe they feel insecure about themselves, and feeling better than other people boosts their self-esteem. I love being equal, even more helping others to grow and get better, and getting help, so I'm as lost as you are!

Insecurity and a need to be accepted by others. Also low self esteem, male attention gives them a boost.

It usually means that they are insecure in themselves and need the attention and approval of those around them, regardless of whether it is good or bad attention.
