Do you think they will be as respectable as our elders? Will they be much knowledgable? will they be much tolerable? Will they be much religious?

What do you think will they take this earth to peace or darkness?

same as you, I guess : the last generation has defilled the earth. Why wouldn't it be the same with the next?

As for religion, I doubt it's the answer to anything.

Also, "our elders" aren't respectable. Some of them went to war without any good reason and killed, and most of them aggreed to it. Our eleders are only "respectable" because they are older and thus a bit wiser than most people. But they got that wisdom the hard way : in a pool of blood. Hardly respectable from my point of view

more knowledgable? some of them will be. Since technology and science evolves every day, then some of them are bond to be more knowledgable. BUT as you can see in the last generation, even if a few are knowledgable, the rest are just plain ignorant. Same with the next generation : most of them won't have a clue as to how the world works while a few will know more than you could ever dream of.

more tolerable? probably, since prejudice only comes from ignorance and fear. And since people from every origin now live in every country in the world, then there should be less and less fear/hatred/prejudice in the world as time goes by.

much religious? probably not. The only god that will have some power over the crowd will be the medias and the cyberworld in which everything is possible.

As for taking earth to peace or darness, it would depend on what meaning you put on those words. Probably in between as the last generation did.
The new generation will be like the last. Only a LITTLE different. So, the main caracteristics will stay the same : greed, lust for power, love and compassion will always have a place in any man's heart, whatever the generation he comes from.

When I speak with kids, I'm overwhelmed by how much they know and their ability to analyse. I am filled with nothing but hope that the next generation will be able to correct the mistakes of this generation. This generation has created the tools we need for a better world, but has been unable to use them. The next generation has a chance to do better.

To answer your first four questions: Knowledgable? Definitely. Tolerable? If you mean 'tolerant', I genuinely hope so and believe so. Respectable? Well, I'm not sure I can answer that. Religious? I hope and believe they will be less religious. This is why I have so much faith in them!

Well, I'm raising some of our next generation, so I hope my husband and I are making them understand the impotence of respect for everyone.
I think kids today are a lot smarter then we give them credit for! It seems they are a lot more involved in the issues in the world then what we ever were. I'm only 32 and it hasn't been all that long ago that I was a teenager, and I just don't remember my friends and I getting so involved with political issues and talking about what was going on in the world. We were more concerned with what we were going to do on Saturday night! Even on here, I have come across postings from teens and even younger kids, that blow me away. They are such smart and intelligent questions and answers for people that are that young.
I think our next generation is going to be fine and do well. I think they will be the ones that make this world a better place for everyone.

Respectable yes, knowledgable, FAR more knowledgable, much more tolerable, and much less religious.

What is going to determine how our next generation lives will be what wars happen in the next 15 years. What kind of messes we leave for them.

Given the track record thus far, it seems it will be very bleak. The fundamentalist agendas of our world leaders may well lead us into another world war.

I think we're still another generation off from starting to see any real progress in healing the world ... there are a lot hard times to come in the near future (particularly in terms of energy and global climate). The children of our children will see first hand the destruction caused by humanity and they will need to work towards changing our course of suffer dire consequences.

I'm not saying the world will end ... but there could be some significant loss of life and destruction.

I think that the next generation will split in two parts: one part that will be wise and that will achieve self knowledge, and a part that will be ignorant to the truth. I guess it will be like it has been said, that the good will be separated from the bad...
