Very strongly advise: buy new (USB-)harddisk. Copy the contents to the new disk BEFORE trying to repartition. Many things can go wrong with partitioning.

Copy the contents with xxcopy (not xcopy, he could give up copying half way, like with open files and the like). www.xxcopy.com, although there might be other versions which are more convenient.
