If the Bible was given by God, then it should have been come with the evolution of man. But there is a huge gap between Evolution of Man & Bible. Hence Bible (in original) may not be the book that has been given by God to Man. Bible may be the translated or manipulated form of 'Original Book'.
God never makes mistakes. Nowhere in Bible, it has been cleary written as 'Earth is flat', etc. Only the conclusions can be made on its writings.
I think Bible was originaly told us by Jesus, not by God. And a Human can mistakes, that we have in Bible.

The Bible is comprised of writings INSPIRED by God. It is not a history or science textbook. It is designed to teach God's Truth.
Some of its books and chapters are in essence fairy tales or poems or fictional examples intended to teach a truth...not to provide scientific or historical fact. This is why so many Biblical Fundamentalists have a hard time convincing folks that Christianity is a legitimate religion.
I see people arguing every day on YA on creation vs. evolution or where Noah's ark is located. None of this has any bearing whatsoever on the lesson on Truth the author intended.
I've also heard people arguing over the book or movie Willie Wonka whether or not Augustus Gloop could survive his trip down the suction tube. It's irrelevant...it's fiction...it's not the point. The lesson to be gleaned from that chapter is that eating candy all day will likely make you fat!
It's the same thing with most of the writings in the Bible. Few if any people can or will ever understand everything writen in the Bible. (The Truth is a HUGE thing...something FAR beyond the ability of mans' mind to grasp.) But it's false logic to assume something isn't real just because one doesn't understand something. I know very little about electrical engineering...but I have faith that my monitor won't blow up in my face when I turn it on.

I don't know who told you the bible was written by God, but it was written by a whole variety of people over a few hundred years and includes their opinions and fashions at the time they wrote it. Just read the stuff Jesus actually said (even that was written down much, much later after being "handed down" by word of mouth for centuries but let's call it accurate for the sake of argument) and ignore the rest. It is not only often inaccurate but incredibly contradictory.
By the way; God cannot exist without faith. If the bible was written by God that would prove His existence, thus negating the need for faith, thus rendering God non existent. Don't take it so seriously, I like Don Quixote a lot but I don't dress up as a knight and wonder around Spain being chivalrous! Don't base your life a badly written book, I'm sure there must be more to Christianity than a jumble of conflicting fairy stories!

Because most christians have poor reading comprehension and don't know much about science?
The bible says Earth is round
Isaiah 40:22
It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:
The "corners" are wind directions (north south east west)
Earth is not in the center of the universe. The bible never said it was. The earth revolves around the sun. The bible never said it didn't.
The bible predicts the fall of rome too.

Unfortunatly today's bibile has a lot of false information because it was simply not protected during the first years of chrsitinaity. The bible was changed several times during the Roman empire by the various emprors to justify their political agenda and personal beliefs.
The bible is indeed the work of man not god. It is scary since you really can not tell the truth from the fake! no wonder so many people are now looking for the word of god in the Quran since it has not been changed and is the same everywhere.

"Jimmy pete" ofcourse has the stock standard answer for all bible literalists.
He must be a truefull loving person. One who is after Gods own heart.
..
possible answer 1 God makes mistakes also, and is actually not 'perfect'
Possible answer 2 God spoke to people how they would understand things rather than get into a detailed discourse on scientific principles
Possible answer 3 'God' had something to do with the writers lives but nothing to do with the writing of the books
most likely answer 4 'God' had nothing to do with the bible, nor the barbaric men who wrote it.

Christians, who are not fundamentalists, believe that the Bible was inspired by God, but written down by men. These men wrote in the language and the idiom of the reigning culture, which was limited to what knowledge there was about the earth, etc. at that point in time.
Maybe one should forget about the inconsistencies and things that we NOW know are not correct and look at the message beyond the text.

First Please do not doubt the origin of the bible,
It was the word of god,
As time passed and it came to be translated from Aramaic to Roman then to latin then to Greek and down to english, and had diffferent translators in different periods, people added thier own Ideas to it and flavour of those times to it.
There are now so many versions of the bible,
Which one do u think is right?
each varies from the other,
Now did u ever read the gospel of Barnabe.
It was written by Barnabe who was one of the twelve opostles of Jesus, No other bible was written by anyone who was close to jesus,
The Gospel of Barnabe is totally contraray to present day christianity, and the Doctrine of trinity
It says Jesus was a messenget of God and not a son of god
It says God is one, Not three.
It shows jesus as a Human preaching the word of God and Jesus is Quoted as saying that Gos is but one and neither is he born of anyone nor is anyone born of him.
What u read as the bible today is highly modified, Adultrated with time, and established as a constitution of the most confusing institution, the Church,
The Quraan says, In chapter Yaseen " that the sun and the moon are all in orbits fixed for them. they cannot transgress thier Bounds,

The Bible was written by men, God only writes on stone, so men write down what they perceive as truth. Jesus tells us that scripture is about Gods Love, not mens excuses, but I think its a little of both and rarely use it as a foundation for loving or disliking others. Which by the way is what Jesus was perported to teach about; because he never wrote on paper, only on sand.

I believe the Bible was inspired by God, but it was most certainly written by imperfect humans, or translated by them or whatever you want to believe, but God didn't sit down and write it himself, so any translation through humans would necessarily be flawed. That doesn't mean that it had nothing to do with God or that the basic principles are wrong, just some of the facts. Good question. thanks, take care.
