To protect you own health, do not touch the worms or the cat poop because some worms can be transmitted to humans. See your doctor as soon as convenient and get a clean bill-of-health.
Your b/f taking the kitten to the vet is a good idea and it will be tested and given a dose of dewormer if needed. Worms GET WORSE, not better with time and can/will eventually harm the health of an infested animal if not treated.

Been in your shoes a couple of months ago.
First of all, the probability of contracting the worm from a cat is tiny. The cat probably got it from a human some how, most probably through shoe dirt.
Worms are common in cats, especially persian cats so do not worry it is normal and with the proper medication, the cat should be wormless in a few weeks.
You probably don't have a worm infection, but just in case take a hot bath and study your skin carefully. Once your skin is moist you will be able to identify any infections as it becomes smoother.
If you find any spooky looking skin infections or abnormal skin inflamation, then I strongly suggest your visit a doctor. Medications for humans is much easier and fast, it will be gone in no time.

Good hand washing. I have had cats that had worms in the past. Just get the worm medicine from the vet and use it. Parasites are particular to the species they inhabit so I don't think you can get worms from your cat, but do use good hand washing.

Take some anti-worm tablets. You can get something that you just need to take once every three months (Vermox single dose) - my dog had worms too, and I didn't want to be bogged down by having to go on a pill-taking routine so I got that.

First you need medication for the kitten or it will die. People usually know they have worms, they show up when you go to the bathroom, but you didn't get them from your kitten.
