Well, i guess they lock their legs before they sleep..?

Most birds sleep in nests, or have a natural ability to sleep 'on the wing'. Birds also sing in their sleep and often keep one eye open.

why don't you fall over when walking?
it's a learned trait, the effect of natural selection. all of the birds that fell out of trees while they slept, didn't survive. so, now that talent has been passed on genetically to the birds you see today.

When you are relaxed you loosen your grip. But they way that a birds tendons are arranged means that when they sit on a branch and relax, their toes grip. If they die they stay in that position. They need to make a conscious effort to let go of the branch.

go away it on my own. Its unlawful to harass or save wild song birds. It doenst actual decide on your help. And its unlawful so which you would be able to objective and raise it with the aid of fact it is going to imprint on you and should no longer have the skill to be released. call a wild life rehaber and enable them to take the chicken or basically go away it on my own, its a wild animal

Bongo's right. The default for a bird's claws is to tighten. It takes a "conscious effort" for them to open their claws and fly.
I can't answer his question though, I'm too busy working out how I knew that **** too!!!

Their claws lock into position when the sleep, securing them to the branch, and they only sleep lightly, so any gust of wind will wake them.
