I would think the difference would be that you can have a success and still not reach your goal. For example, a football players goal is to make it to the Superbowl. When his team wins games needed to get to the Superbowl it's a success but he hasn't reach his goal yet.

How interesting that you got two answers already that said the exact opposite thing. I think you have to have a series of successes to get to a goal. In education your goal is to get a MBA say. So you have to pass a series of tests, each one a success, and after enough successes pointed in the right direction, you'll acheive your goal.

Goal is a destination & success means reaching that destination after defeating all the obstacles that come in the path!!!

goal - The purpose toward which an endeavor is directed: an objective.
