Is this person 'attacking' Christianity or asking a question about it? When was that a crime?

jamesmom: What, you can get into this person's head and understand this person's intentions? God, people's arrogance amazes me sometimes...

klu: Can you not see that I'm _defending_ this person? This is the first time in my life I've ever been called a 'Christofascist' _and_ a 'Christian hater' for asking the same question.

For your information, I am neither.

No, there is no justification for such responses. Responses like these just illustrate the reality and danger of narrow-mindedness, ignorance and bigotry. As a Christian, I get truly discouraged, and honestly tired of the nastiness of some Christians on this site. But there are some other voices out there, just fewer I guess...

He didn't seem to be asking a very thoughtful or educated question. I think he was trying to make waves. Whether he was attacking it or not is irrelevant to me. Are Christians ever justified for saying mean things to someone (whether that someone is being serious or not)? You can be nice and defend your beliefs. Christ is our example as well as our Savior. Jesus said, "by their fruits ye shall know them", some "Christians" its seems, are not in bloom very often. And this isn't new to yahoo answers, anywhere people talk about religion, on-line especially, they say inflammatory things with a typically out of proportion response. Would most of these people say the same things, with the same passion if we were all talking face to face? Maybe yes maybe no, but they might be more tactful in the way things were said.
I find that some Christians seem to have a very low tolerance for the people they should be witnessing to. It's also funny to me that Christians start cursing in their responses to questions they don't like. For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God... the wages of sin is death. We are all in the same boat.

He is asking a question, but a question I cannot answer. I am not sure there is an aswer, but perhaps we have a philospher or advanced minister that has spent years in seminary that can answer this if there is an answer.

Perhaps the reason fundamentialist christians get so upset is because they and their leaders make things up as they go. They do not rely on history or education to learn about issues.

I long for a great thinker, theologian, philosopher or theologian.

I don't think the person is attacking Christianity. I think he's just misinformed and thinks he's pulling one over on people. Either way, many of the responses are on the defensive and aren't helping make their case that Christianity is how he should believe. I liked Stand-Up Philosopher's answer. It was straight-forward and unoffensive.

I think a lot of the animosity stems from Christians being constantly berated on the site. We're treated like idiots when we often have valid things to say. Atheists often dismiss us entirely and assume we're all illiterate toothless wonders...And tons of us are SO not.

I don't think he's trying to insult anyone. He's just asking a question.

Too many people confuse a healthy debate with argument.
Fact is, how can anyone learn anything if they don't look at the other side.

I think I will always be a firm believer in the individual search for truth.

So, ask away!

I am not shocked at the responses to the perceived "attack" this question has created. These angry and hateful responses show an underlying moral, and logical, flaw that plagues all religions. The presumption that "I am right, and therefore more human than you" provides strong support and a feeling of connectedness for many who are otherwise unsupported and out of touch.

No, he seems to have been asking a sincere question, but misunderstood it due to the change in wording. Yahoo is not full of Theologians, so you're bound to get tons of smartass, misguided, or flat out wrong requests from people who believe too much in what they are told, or too much in what they think.

You also just read my answer to your previous question.

You may be convinced of anything but the truth will remain truth.
You should look how much deviations have been instalted in Christianity.

Answer these

1.Christians say that "God SACRIFICED His only son to save us". We know that God is Almighty; to whom did He sacrifice Jesus?
2.If Jesus(may peace be upon him) is God(God forbid) then why did he said to Satan that "I will workship only my Lord" in the Book of Mattew--when satan was giving tempations to Jesus(may peace be upon him)

He's just asking a question.

People get emotional about religious issues because it's so personal. They sometimes write outrageous things as a result.

You are making a judgement and it is unfounded. They are entitled to their opinion and if it is an opinion that is anti, attacking, pro, or neutral it is not your responsibility to question it nor to impose judgement upon. It is sarcasm and you are so wound up in your makebelieve christofacist fundie world that you can not see that he has imployed humor to make his point and it is a danmed good one.
