Hi, I am a breast feeding mother and I have been doing it for 7 months now until recently someone told me we have to control our diet if we are breast feeding. For example, we can't drink cold drinks or it will cause our babies to suffer from cough or worse, asthma or we can't eat too much ginger or clams or anything that's 'poisonous'? I'm really confused...

Some of that sounds like Old Wives' Tales. Surely a cold beverage would have reached a higher temperature once it passes through your body into your milk.

Moderation is the key in all aspects of our lives. What we eat does get into our bloodstream and then if it is still circulating in our bodies as we breastfeed our babies will also have any nutrients or lack of nutrients as we have. The cold drinks theory I would have to say is a bit odd. I have never heard anything about drinking cold stuff. Good luck and enjoy the wonderful moments of breastfeeding.
