First of all, don't check it every 30 minutes. It won't change that quickly. You can alternate Children's Tylenol and Motrin for the temperature. Keep doing cooling measures such as a cold rag to the forehead, behind the neck, under the armpits. Check his temperature before giving Tylenol/Motrin and then 1 hour after. If after 2 hours the temperature hasn't come down, give the opposite medication that what you had just given and recheck in 1 hour.

Tylenol = acetaminophen
Motrin = ibuprofen
Do not use either if you aren't sure of an allergy.
If the temperature is sustained greater than 38.8 for more than 8 hours - even with Tylenol and Motrin, I suggest calling the Pediatrician again.

Just give him the medicine as prescribed by doctor and fever medicine- it will take a day before the antibiotics work. Keep wiping his face and body with a wet towel . BUT if you see he still has a fever- you should go and see the doctor again or call her for advice. I would also have the ENT specialist take a look at him too to be on the safe side. Always take care regarding ear problems.

No need to keep a temperature down. The infection in the system is bringing everything up to the surface of the skin to fight it off. Let the child get hot, but push the fluids- cold cloth, and let him sleep, and watch movie's. Mabbee give him a little tylenal at night to make him comfortable, but for the most part, you need to let the sickness run it's course.

You are taking his temperature too often.
The antibiotics should reduce the fever.
He probably just needs to sleep.
No more cool showers.
Keep him out of drafts and lightly blanketed.
Keep fluids on hand for him
And if the doctor is okay with it give him some liguid ibuprofin or tylenol. Aspirin will actually make his temperature go up.

Good Luck .

Stop checking his temp so often...the poor child isn't going to get any rest that way. Try children'd tylenol or ibuprofen to keep the temprature down and stop the showers as well, the water will only get into his ears and make the pain worse.

try to keep the room cool. A fever although it makes us feel miserable is the bodies way of fighting of the infection or illness- so it is good to ride it out if you can. Its hard to watch a child go through that though- he will be feeling better in a day or so - antibiotics work w/ in a few days. Hope the little one gets better fast.

ok dont put a hot kid in a cold shower.... a tepid shower or bath is okay...

paracetamol such as panadol liquid is good for kids.. and should help the temp come down...

Cool face washer applied to his forehead or the back of his neck will cool him down... back of the neck is actually better and faster working...

I don't think you can go wrong with children's tylenol or motrin and lukewarm baths. Fevers are scary aren't they? But it will break. You'll know the minute it happens. Poor boy and poor Mom! Hope he feels better soon.
