2-The world and all things in it are valuable; but the most valuable thing in the world is a virtuous woman.
3-The best women are the virtuous; they are the most affectionate to infants, and the most careful of their husband's property.
When a woman performeth the five times of prayer, and fasteth the month of Ramadan, and is chaste, & is not disobedient to her husband, then tell her to enter Paradise by whichever door she liketh.
4-Verily a great number of women are assembled near my family, complaining of their hubands; & those men who ill-treat their wives do not behave well. He is not of my way who teacheth a woman to stray.
5-Whoever befriendeth three daughters, or three sisters, & teacheth them manners, & is affectionate to them, till they come of age, may God apportion Paradise for him.
6-Shall I not point out to u the best of virtues? It is ur doing good to ur daughter when she is returned to u having been divorced by her husband.

" Seeking knowledge is a duty of every Muslim, man or woman." (Ayisha Lemu 1978: 25).
" The Father, if he educates his daughter well, will enter Paradise." (The World Bank Report July 9, 1993: 25).
" A mother is a school. If she is educated, then a whole people are educated" (1993: 25).
Islamic Law forbids the marriage of a woman by force. The girl's and the boy's consent is necessary. Although the parents play a major role in deciding a girl's or a boy's choice of mates, the final decision is up to the girl and the boy. For example, according to Ibn Abbas, a girl came to the Prophet and said that her father had forced her into marriage without her consent. The prophet gave her the choice of either continuing the marriage, or invalidating it (Badawi 1976: 139).
"Fear God and respect women," another states " the best person amongst you is the one who has the best attitude toward women".

I (Muaviyah b. Haidah) said, "O Apostle of God! What is my duty to my wife?" He said, "That you give her to eat as you eat yourself, and clothe her as you clothe yourself; and do not slap her in the face nor abuse her, nor separate yourself from her in displeasure.
Give your wife good counsel; and if she has goodness in her, she will soon take it, and leave off idle talking; and do not beat your noble wife like a slave.
Muhammad said, "Beat not your wives." Then Omar came to the Rasul (Muhammad) and said, "Wives have got the upper hand from hearing this."

He is the most perfect Muslim whose disposition is best; and the best of you are they who behave best to their wives.

A virtuous wife is a man's best treasure.

the Prophet said: "One who makes efforts (to help) the widow or a poor person is like a mujahid (warrior) in the path of Allah, or like one who stands up for prayers in the night and fasts in the day."
Woman as mother commands great respect in Islam. The Noble Qur'an speaks of the rights of the mother in a number of verses. It enjoins Muslims to show respect to their mothers and serve them well even if they are still unbelievers. The Prophet states emphatically that the rights of the mother are paramount. Abu Hurairah reported that a man came to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and asked: "O Messenger of Allah, who is the person who has the greatest right on me with regards to kindness and attention?" He replied, "Your mother." "Then who?" He replied, "Your mother." "Then who?" He replied, "Your mother." "Then who?" He replied, "Your father."

the son of Jahimah, reported that Jahimah came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said, " Messenger of Allah! I want to join the fighting (in the path of Allah) and I have come to seek your advice." He said, "Then remain in your mother's service, because Paradise is under her feet."

If women are so respected in Islam - especially by Muhammad - please read the post that someone else put out here but which disappeared when I tried to rply - it was all about Muhammad having innumerable wives - including marrying a 6yr old and having sex with her when she was 9. Ok, forget that - but marrying his adopted kids wife - and going against his own rules about having sex equaly with women till ayisha caught him with another woman Maria and he tried to bribe her into submission saying that he'd never look at Maria again if she didnt tell anyone.. look.. your 1st point says women are twin halves of men.. then why can't women do the same? Why aren't' the women having multiple husbands and sex slaves? If they're allowed to get eduction, why aren't they allowed to work in equal jobs with equal pay? And why don't the men aid in cooking and raising kids?
Why did Muhammad take advantage of his being respected by one and all by having sex with every female he came across?
Im sorry... but I can't respect a guy who can't hold it in his pants, or a paedophile. Maybe he had alot of good concepts, but he was NOT faultless as the Quran preaches. What about loyalty? Why marry at all if you cant be loyal? Why not just stay single and go having sex with everyone instead of denegrating the word marriage?
You say yourself "2-The world and all things in it are valuable; but the most valuable thing in the world is a virtuous woman. " but why does Muhammad not consider a virtuous man valuable? HuH?? Are men to be immune to responsibility and value? How fair is that?

My dear, you have wrongly translated or interpreted the verse. The right translation is: verse 22 ( god says to the angels): "Gather together the wrongdoers and others like them and anything which they have been worshipping." verse 23 " Besides Allah, and lead them to the path of Hell." Islam really respect women and a surah was revealed dedicated to women. The surah is surah an-nisa'. Here are some translation to show how respectful Islam towards women: verse 7: men shall have a share in what their parents and kinsmen leave; and women shall have a share in what their parents and kinsmen leave; whether it be little or much, a determinate share ( as ordained by Allah) verse 19: o believers, it is unlawful for you to inherit women against their will, nor should you put constraint on them (by keeping them under undue control and making life difficult for them), with a view of taking away a part of what you have given them,, unless they beguilty of a clear act of lewdness. And treat them (your wives) with kindness. Then, if you (feel you) dislike them (for their conduct, do not be in haste to divorce them). It may well be that you may dislike a thing which Allah might yet make it a source of abundant good.

I used to live in Saudi Arabia and I learned that women could not show their faces, they couldn't drive a car, they couldn't have a job. Men could have 4 wives, and he could divorce them just by saying, "I divorce you". Men get twice the inheritance as a women. The prophet Mo himself tells us that hell is full mostly of women. Women were bought and sold like property. The prophet also says that women are not as smart as men, and they are more sexually minded. For courts a women's testimony is worth only 1/3 of that of a man. Women could not travel on their own. There were many, many restrictions placed on women, and when asked why, I was told "that is because we respect them soooo much"...

Women aren't very well respected in any of the three Abrahamic religions. Being better than Christianity is not saying much.

As another person mentioned, try Wicca.

Or better yet, try the 'religion' of secular humanism, wherein women and men are 100% equal, be they 'virtuous' or not.

BTW my wife is Muslim.

I have seen no great evidence of respect for the women in that religion. From what I have read, the women pay too large of a price not to obey what is expected of them. The lack of freedom hardly seems worth any respect that might be thrown their way, if you truly get any at all.

Almost any major religion will tell u women are respected, and even the equal of men. but let's face it, it's not true. it could be just society's misconception seeping into religion. I believe it is society that degrads women, not religion.

but here are a few things to take note:

- women did not always hav the right to vote (nations of christian majority countries like the US)
- only men can practice poligamy in Islam
- women were not encouraged to involve themselves in politics (applies to many societies of varying religion eg: greek)
- according to the Syariah Laws of Islam, a women who is raped, needs 4 eye witnesses, who are men, to confirm the crime. (this may be outdated)
- In Islamic countries, women must cover their 'aurat' which is the head, legs body and arms. these women are forced to seclusion at a young age of 5 or so. they are not allowed to go to school, or go out alone for fear of striking lust in men. plus, now Islamic women are facing serious obesity issues. This is because women are banned from sports. they don't even have specialized gym classes for females or changing rooms because it is feared that women will become attracted to each other if they see each other's unclothed body. And these women find it increasingly difficult to even walk out alone to parks if unaccompanied by their husband. the 'religious officers' would start harrassing them...

So you tell me.

Also, I can write in a book that I am superman 1,000 times. But it doesn't mean I am superman. Expecially if the same book says I am not superman.
