my hair is really soft on the top but the bottom layer is dry and frizzy and full of split ends. i dont know why, i dont do anything to it, like bleach it or straighten it (on a daily basis, i'll straighten my hair every once in a while.) my hair is auburn and natrually curly and goes halfway down my back when curly, so it's long.

I have straight hair with the same problem and I've recently solved it. Buy some extra virgin olive oil and spread it on your hair from the ears down and let it sit on your hair for at least 2 hours... then wash ONCE and condition and it tames frizzies and makes your hair beautiful! you'll smell extra virgin while it's on your hair, but it washes out! I've been told you can add some essential oils to it (like lavender) to make it smell better but it doesn't really bother me for such an awesome fix! Plus a lot of anti frizz serums have olive oil in them!

Definitely don't wash it every day. My hair is curly and it's very dry. I wash every other day but I still condition every day and then I use Aussie Hair Insurance, which is a leave in conditioner. That helps a lot.
