oooooo, I know how hard this can be!!!
Everything in your body is soo ready to just backhand some idoit. (not kids, pets, loved ones, family, ect....) But some freakin' idiot that really does need it.
Ahhhhh, this is a tough one.
You need to look at the person...and see how pathetic they are. I mean really see that they are like someone that has a brain but is a realy mean, inconsiderate, condensending, no good, rotten MF. That really deserves it.
Would you backhand someone that is disabled? I'm thinking NO.
So all you have to do is look at the person that you want to 'tune-up' and see that they do not have what it takes to come up to a being nice level.(because they are mean) It's always the big @ssholes that need this to happen to them. But nothing that would need plastic surgery. Just a wee-bit of a tune-up. That'as all.
It helps to look forward to what may happen if you do take this person for a 'spin'.
1) Are you gonna break thier jaw or a tooth...or nose? This is not a good thing. So think.
2)Are you going to regret doing it?
3)Are the police going to get involved?
I can't think of anything more but these 3 basic ones.
And by walking away...believe it or not....ack, ...you are the better person. Ya, I know it doesn't sound right, but seriously, it takes someone special to be able to walk away. Truly. And that would be the 'bigger' thing to do.
Now then again, if this person just can't keep thier mouth shut then....after looking and pondering all of the things written above here, AND You are sure that they deserve it. You are the same size. They are not mentally impaired, in any way! You are not going to be tagged a 'bully'.. Like the two of you are equal on the playing field of backhanding. And there just might be a backhand comin' right back atcha.. And the are just being a stone-cold pure asshole.....
Well .....................then.............
Like if they are baby rapers.....and scum like that ..., Well, yep,!

in all honesty, are you on any meds? i felt like this for a long time until i switch anidepressants. check online or in a book at your local bookstore to see if you are having any counteractive meds in your body or if you are suffering from an illness that you may not yet know about. granted this is a worst case scenario, i believe that it helps to thinks the worst and wish for the best, this way, youre never disappointed :)

Count to ten and back down, slowly...
Remind yourself that smiling (even with gritted teeth) uses more muscles than slapping them and therefore qualifies as "strength training"... and it may well take ALL your strength not to slap them.
There's always the old standby, "I'd hit you, but sh** splatters."
Otherwise, you can walk away (people HATE that because it takes their perceived control away)... take a walk, have a glass of ice water and sip it S-L-O-W-L-Y to calm you down.

Get to a psychiatrist. Perhaps you have a mental illness that needs medication. It will help you avoid jail time. Prevention and counselling is the key. Anger management issues.

Try learning transcendental meditation, it'll take time but the results are simply great for your disturbed psyche.
