I think you are mistaking pretentiousness and overcompensation with confidence. Genuine confidence is not overt or obvious, its a belief in yourself as an intelligent, worthy person that deserves and expects respect.
Like many things in life, if you possess the genuine you can generally recognize the fakes.
The more important question here is... why does it bother you that these chicks act this way? This implies that they rejecting you as well.

The fact you care so much no one is asking you to date them. Get over it, someone will find them attractive if you do not. Yeah some people who think they are the god's gift to man/woman are annoying. The cocky attitude is not confidence. Confidence is attractive because it shows many traits about people to me the most important there are no major issues with them. Confidence is hot ; ********* in either sex is not. People that know when they are right and stick up for it and are humble enough to not flaunt it NOW THAT IS SEXY.
also confidence is hot in a lover :)

I dont know, some people dont think Fat is unatractive and an ugly person to you may be someones dream girl.
Its really a matter of opinion.
Its hard to say why confidence is attractive, if you see someone who is confident they look good then people wont notice that they dont.
Like if you thought your outfit didnt match and you tugged at it all night people would notice, that just a sugestion.

confidence is only attractive when the person has some kind of sense about how confident to be and about what they should be confident. it the person is overlly confident in themself its called being concieted...and being conceited is definatly NOT attractive. people need to be confident in themselves as to not put themselves down..but the person should also know the bad things about him/herself. if they are totally confident that they are the hottest the best or wtvr thats hecka not attractive and nobody likes people who think they are the center of the world

well..i hate it when girls and boys act the way you said..its all about being modest..lol.. but i think trying to be confident makes other people think they can depend on you..thats what attracts them .. .

its annoying when they use it as a self-defense mechenism kinda like hurt and insult you before u do it to me (when thats not the plan)..... personally it gets annoying and i just tell them to *** off cus im tryin to be nice and they shouldnt judge a guy with out havin at least 5 mintues of conversation...

umm...i dunno you are a guy and i am a gal...but guys that have confidence aren't always down and emo and always have nice things to say...they aren't selfish so confidence is attractive...iguess it goes the same with girls too
