Airplanes were using ABS (usually called "anti-skid" in an airplane) before cars were. Interestingly, most of the technologies that we have in modern day cars come from two sources:

1. the aviation industry.
2. racecar technology R&D.

In the case of the plane that I fly, it has used anti-skid since it was first built in the late 1960s. In fact, it is almost considered an emergency procedure to takeoff with an inoperable anti-skid system. We have to get permission from way high up in order to do this, and then only to take the airplane to the next suitable repair capable base.
