hi, what happens at the immigration desk in the airport when you leave and return to Australia?

Nothing much. After you leave, they just keep doing their work as usual, and they're still there when you get back.

They'll ask you some standard questions (what was the purpose of your trip, etc.), stamp your passport, and if you look like a drug smuggler, they'll subject you to a body cavity search.

present your passport and ticket at the immigrtion desk and the officer will just stamp your passport.
