Algebra is used all the time in accounting, measuring for building,
and of course science.
Usually, when people teach algebra the start out by teaching word
problems - the process of during a word problem into a set of
algebraic formulas is probably the hardest thing about algebra - but
it is also the thing that makes it useful.
If little Johnny eats an apple every hour, how many apples does little
Johnny's mother have to pack if he'll be in school for 8 hours?
Well - the solution - albeit simple - is an algebraic formula. Indeed,
little Johnny's mother may be a stay-at-home Mom and she's still
using algebra.
There's no place safe!

Man dang if I know. I spent that smester in high school some 45 years ago setting in the deans office because I kepy asking why and how it applied to my Dad who was a Master Plumber and wouldn't know an Alberbrivc equasion from a hole in the ground. and I drove long hual for 25 years and never used it. Was the biggest waste of my time

You may not see many of the formulas you are taught, but you use the WAY OF THINKING all the time.
It adds a layer of abstract symbology to your thought process, builds your sequential and logical reasoning, and helps with seeing patterns in daily life challenges that build toward solutions.

It's not unless you are in a field such as Nuclear Science or Rocketry!! 99.9% of people will never have a use for it!
