Why is the military still escorting civilian oil company trucks in Iraq?

By the way, I was in the US Army, Arkansas Army National Guard, as a medic, in Taji, Iraq, March 2004 to March 2005. There were many units that were security for oil company's crude oill trucks, yet we were always being told on Fox that they were supplying their own security. Looks like conservatism strikes again.

Now your a guy I would like to talk too, I wonder if Iraq's major export was pickles and beans I'm sure we would still be there,Ummmm. Everyday the sun comes up conservatism strikes, It is painfully obvious why the US is there(and taking advantage of the people in the military like yourself)

Maybe the US knows that an oil truck would light up the sky if it was attacked, and feels it has to escort those trucks as supplemental help to keep Iraq neighborhoods from being torched. There is a civil war going on in Iraq, with 6000 Iraquis killed in May and June alone. The US is just in a bad situation, thanks to the old Bush heirarchy. And it covers up the bad news by the focus on Israel which, in comparison, is small potatoes.

Interesting - I was there about the same time frame as you and never saw any reports that we were not providing security for Iraq's economic infrastructure. The lesson I learned is that the news media is clueless. (With Fox being marginally less clueless about Iraq.)

Hint: if a reporter who cannot tell the difference between an M1A1 tank and an M2A2 IFV says something that is incorrect - it is most likely incompetence instead of misdirection.

If you were in Iraq for any length of time.. you KNOW that the Iraqis supplying their own security is a JOKE.
