No, it's not sick, disgusting, or any other word people can come up with, but the child should sleep in there own room. Every once in a while is OK, if they wake to bad dreams, or theres scary weather. other then that try to get them moved into there own room.
Good Luck

even if a 10 year wanted to sleep with his parents why would they let him/her. First of all thats just nasty, child protection services may also agree. Most 10 year olds wouldn't want to sleep with their parents anyway at least none that I know of. What is going on that a 10 year would want to sleep with his/her parents, and how long has this been going on.

My little borther has been sleeping with my parents since theday e was born, around 6 they finally started laying down rules about sleeping in his bed on school nights. He is now 9, will be 10 in sept, and still sleepes with his parents on weekends. I think it is a d amn shame. It has caused major arguments between my parents and has had a terrible affect on there intimacy. He cries when i baby sit on the weekends cause i make him sleep in his own bed. This bad habit should have been broken YEARS ago. it is important for children to be able to sleep on there own. Its as if his mother is his security blanket. I wonder when he'll stop. its gotta be embarrassing if his friends find out, boys are cruel.

Heavens no! Of course a 2 year old shouldn't sleep with their parents either but 10 is completely ridiculou! When exactly do you plan on putting this kid in its own bed 16? 22?

NO ,, If he/she has nightmares in middle of night everynow and then maybe ,but if it is all the time parents need to seek him/her some help ,something going on. If 10 year old is just sleeping in parents bed all night then something wrong with parents and child should seek help for parents ,asking school nurse and teachers.

Well, you're talking actual sleep, right? Not your Micheal Jackson type "sleep over", right? :} By 10 most kids should be over needing that much attention. You need to figure out why. Is something going on that's causing him/her anxiety? Are you really, really busy and that's the only time the kid gets close to you? Or is it just a habit that's got out of hand? Every kid is different and every family is different.

I think it depends on the situation. If the child has a bed of his or her own that they can go to, and is encouraged to sleep there, then sleeping with the parents occasionally probably isn't a big deal.

nightmares? the 10 year old can always sleep on the ground with blankets and a pillow for the night... but definitely not on the bed.
It shouldn't be a habit. If they do have terrible nightmares that disrupt sleep... you should talk to her/him about it or talk to a therapist... not necessarily because something is wrong with the kid but maybe the kid is having nightmares because of too much anxiety and needs to talk things out.

No, but I understand how such a habit could be formed.
It's important to make the child feel safe enough to be alone. You might want to start by leaving a light on in the hallway. You can also tell the child that now that s/he's big, s/he will probably appreciate some privacy...
