I am actually amused when people are horrified to hear of animal cruelty yet still eat animals who have lived a life of torture in cages or cramped conditions and are then slaughtered mercilessly to put dinner on the table.
Is organised cruelty more acceptable than individual acts?
Of course I am sickened by people who hurt defenceless animals, I just cant comprehend how meat eaters close their eyes to cruelty that can be prevented by not eating meat.
If someone could explain this to me I would be more than willing to listen.

Because the punishment does'nt fit the crime!
Therefore these sadistic ,sick people who harm defenceless animals feel they can inflict whatever pain they like.
Animals cannot tell what someone has done to them, therefore these sick people get away with the most horrific treatment of them.
As an animal lover, I have many sleepless nights after reading some of the things people do to animals all over the world, it defies belief.
I think people who have been convicted or even reported for cruelty should be tatoo'd where it can be seen, then they could be known as being animal abusers by everyone. (I would also like it for child abusers as well).Obviously, they should never be able to own another pet, ever.
If I was ever able to hand out the sentences for an evil act ,my punishment would be,that they suffer the same fate as the animal.(and I for one would be the first to offer to inflict the punishment). I wonder if they would feel the same about hurting another animal after that?
It's unbelievable that some ignorant people actually believe that animals don't feel the same pain as us.THEY DO.
I agree with others who have answered this question, that most animal abusers eventually turn to children and then adults for the pleasure they get in inflicting torture.
If you look at most the the really sick mad people who are in prison, most of them as children were animal abusers.
There is no point in saying perhaps they were abused as children and this is the reason why they do these things. That's absolute rubbish, not all abused children become abusers.
Unfortunately, there is'nt an instant way to stop such cruelty, I only wish there were.

It comes down to been to lazy to look after the animal , people want to be loved and well think a animal will love them and most give no love back to the poor thing , no wonder there is so much bad in the world today. People seem to want more more more and never wanna give anything back, and it seems like the animals we have as pets get a lot of the back lash from this .

There is just cruelty in the world period. Now a days people are cruel to their own children, parents, spouses. and animals. Animals are just not exempt. People are stuck in a "me" mode and do not seem to care about other people or animals as much as they care about themselves.

wOW, LOTS of good answers so far!
1. Animals cannot tell on cowards
2. Animals are afraid, or unable to fight back
3. Abuse to animals is a secret that is easy to keep
4. Any coward can do it.
5. Yep, that power thing. Power over a helpless animal, is no kind of power. There is power in choosing what you do with your personal rage, and the choice should not be to cause harm to anything breathing. These sicko's need to go visit Adrienne in her "Chamber"

Because there are many sociopaths and psychopaths who prey on easy victims - and those who cannot talk back or fight for their rights are the easiest victims...Like are children and other volnurable people...Cruelty is about power and the fact is we are being brainwashed to see cruelty as acceptable.

I don't know and I would like to know too.....I think some people are just so low that the only way they can feel any power is over poor animals. They must get a kick out of it or something.

Why is there....because people get bored being cruel to people and they might get arrested. When they are cruel to animals, others say, oh well, it's just an animal. My opinion is that those who are cruel to animals really don't deserve to live on this planet. If they can't be kind, what are they doing here anyway???

Man adores power. Cowards find power on the weak parties. Skinning the dogs alive in China,Thailand, Korea & Japan and cutting off their testicles still alive after beating them cruely also boiling cats alive and cracking up the brains of the baby monkies on the dinnder tables in these cruel countries MUST STOP.
