Yea, better yet if you put a slice of Monterrey jack or mozzarella cheese and put it under the broiler to melt the cheese and then add lots of basil. A salute to the Italian flag colors. Make the bread toasted baguette or sour dough too.

I've eaten 'mater sammiches.
Mine had fresh from the garden tomatoes on wheat bread with Miracle Whip.

Never done that...I'd rather add a vegy burger to it though. But I have eaten tomatoes like apples.

Yes, mine are french bread , tomato and salt......tomato is king of all fruits and close cousin vegetable...viva tomato!!!!

YESSSS!!!!! the toast hot, and the tomato chilled!!!!!
And even better if the toast is made from many seed bread, eg. cape seed loaf.... and LOADS of fresh ground black pepper....
