I travel a lot and often and when it's for a while here are my essentials:
-Pictures of my loved ones.
-My bible
-My laptop where all my favorite songs are downloaded. If you have an Ipod, take it.
-My favorite products that I may not be able to find where I am going: toiletries essentially but just anything you may need and may not find right away there.
-An umbrella, especially in London!
-You're going in October so you are going to need some winter clothing. If you want to save money you might want to buy them in India but there are places in London where you can find everything and not for too much.
-A few things that have a very special meaning to me because given to me by people I really care about. You probably have some too. It feels good to have them when you are away for a long period of time.
-A camera.

In London there is a large Indian community so you should be able to find most of the things you are used to from India.
I spent a year in London myself and absolutely loved it!
Bon voyage and enjoy!

%. a super form of worry-free clothing which you for particular will placed on, dont deliver something you do no longer placed on on a typical foundation (thats purely a waste of area). the climate there is superb unpredictable so which you will desire to constantly be donning many layers. comfortable shoes and an umbrella, is additionally very helpful. whilst going out in the united kingdom (London extraordinarily) people dress up somewhat extra suitable than in the U. S., so some super shirts and shoes in case you intend to bypass out on city. keep in mind you're unlikely to the moon and you need to purchase despite you like there, when I went I waited and offered maximum of my shampoo, cleansing soap, etc there with the intention to no longer waste bags area, issues are extra high priced there of direction, yet no longer with the aid of that plenty whilst it is composed of those varieties of issues. additionally you need to go away a variety of of area on your bags for souveniers or issues you purchase, you would be taken aback at how plenty you deliver at the same time and how plenty it sucks to pay the obese bags fee on the way residing house! sturdy success!

Lot of clothes to keep you warm like jackets and cardigans, trenchcoat (or you could buy a nice one there...think Burberry), toiletries (yup don't waste money on soap and moisturiser), required stationery and an i-pod.
