He just got put in a program called Daytop. I looked at their website, and it's an inpatient drug program. There is not much information on there. What I would like to know is...Is he still considered a prisoner? Can he call me, or write, get visits, etc?

He is not a drug user. He is in for selling, and has never used in his life.

I don't know why he wouldn't be able to write and call unless there are special rules in the program he's in. Even people in penitentiaries can call and write anyone they want.

Drug control programs are usually carried keeping the person away from family & friends. Even if they are allowed, it is advisable not to call him because an important stage in the program is to make the patient realize that drug users are not liked by the society. So wait for him to fully recover & then both of you, Live life to the fullest.
