If someone asks for forgiveness and is truly sorry, they will be forgiven, no matter what they have done in there past. If they are truly a believer and have asked Jesus into there heart, then they will not follow a path to destruction.

Matthew 18:21-22 (New International Version):

21Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, "Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?" Jesus answered, "I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.

It is not just about asking for forgiveness, although that is an important aspect. It is about repentance - truly repenting for the sins you have committed - and the resolution to change yourself. If a murderer or child molester is truly repentant and asks for forgiveness and confesses before God in the church and receives Holy Communion then he is forgiven that sin by God. If not in the church then only God can judge. Just like the thief on the cross.

Forgiveness is spiritual and is based on the purity of the spirit or the true intent in the heart of the person asking - true repentance.
What exactly happens and weather or not the person goes to heaven, only God knows because the relationship here is personal. For example, if somebody killed to save his/her own life in self defense, the intent is not sinful. But if somebody kills another person to rob them, it is sinful. Good and evil are in the spirit with which the act is done, not the act itself. Usually acts done for selfish reasons have evil spirit behind them.

Irrespective of the forgiveness in spirit, the person has to pay the society for the damages caused in the society.

The bible says that any who ask forgiveness and turn away from that sin is forgiven. So long as they believe in Christ. Forgiveness doesn't get you to heaven. Only salvation in Christ and walking as Christ walked. Baptism of both water and Holy Ghost and walking in Faith. God doesn't ask us to be perfect but he does expect us to be faithful. No sin is any greater than any other in the eyes of God. Remember the thief on the cross? Christ died for our sins and that includes child molesters.

According to Christians, if they are truly sorry and ask for forgiveness and accept Jesus into their heart all will be forgiven. Then he is allowed to do this over and over again as long as he asks forgiveness because he is to be forgiven seventy times 7 times.

hi lol
seems 2 b nice subject
in each rlgn there is a way or ways or levels of
forgiveness
so it dfrs frm rlgn2 other
one of this ways dscrb the matter as below:
*_God has the ability to 4gv all sins to whome he will
*_god 4gv all but not to have polytheistic thoughts:-
no man,no idol,no phenomena,no devil,no spirit,no
lord,no president,no king,no one no thing except him
*_god prohebits certain sins mainly:-
sins directs to others (human being, animals, plants)
*_god order us to stop doing even small sins, like doubts
like glances 2 others(women/men),saying bad words in
your self, giving small amount of food or wealth to poor
(shld give more and more),being silent when we shld
talk...(this stuff dfrs frm rlgn 2 other...some r ignored
in one but magnified in the other..some cnsdrd tiny
other cnsdrd vry big...)
*_prophets at higher.........at bottom come lowest class of
sinners.
in between WE come...lol
we may move up & down svrl times a day..allover our
lives...
from this point comes the strength of some rlgns....
nothing is final in this life....we r in an exam...we just
collect points as we do here(I think this way is done by
a rlges man)
at the end we may lose all,or God multiply rslt by 2 or
2 billions,,,or even 999 quadrillions.
Don't worry,do your best,and wait..
that is in Islam,we know how it works in Christianity&
Judaism
it is more cmplctd in Hindu,Zen,Buddha rlgns

Sorry to say yes the bible say's god is faithful and just to forgive are sin's, and it say's Jesus paid for all the sin's mankind would commit, child molestor's, murder's, homosexual's, liar's, thieves, adultures, idolaters, drug addict's, coveter's, childern that are rebillious, fornicator's, and etc. The only sin that is not forgiven is blaspeming of the Holy Spirit which is dening that Jesus is the Christ.

Sin simply means error, and has a particular connotation.

Protestant version:

1: Recognize the error and the implications of its results(confess)

2: Repent the error and the results(sincerely apologize)

3: Undo as many of the effects of the error as possible

4: Atone for the error, as you cannot undo the error

5 Err no more.

Technically, If Hitler hadn't killed himself like a cowardly dog, he could have gone to confession, confessed, repented, atoned, did penance, and theoretically received absolution, if it were God's will. I can't imagine the penance, for Hitler or Stalin.
