will open border supporters still blindly continue to stand by that issue?
Think about it. Some terrorist just has to walk across with a suitcase-sized "dirty-bomb" or something like that, and the gov't will have no clue of his location or targets or anything.
Don't know about you, be if scares the p**p outta me.....

Why is it people has to tell others they are stupid? Petey you made a good point even without the insult. Do you have to say that to make yourself feel smart?

I get ya......what really scares the crap out of me is that they could just walk over here with some biological crap.......I mean if the poor and uneducated from south of the border can make it without any problems then you know some well trained terrorists could easily make it thru........there is nothing hard to comprehend about that. Some people like to live in their bubble worlds.....ya know.....

Dont really think they would have to actually snaek a small "dirty Bomb" across the northern or southern border, when they could just put a multiple megaton warhead in a 40 foot container and ship it into the port of Long Beach.. would sit there for a long time before it was even detected... thats something that scares the bejeezus out of ME... talk about looking for a needle in a haystack.

Canada is more likely. I just walk over the border on a camping trip. And walked back. I didn't see a soul. Any one with a good boat can do it over the great lakes... so we should increase border strength all over. But the southern border is leaking thousands of illegals and they don't give this country anything but problems. Back in the 60's everything was in English but now everything is in Spanish and English. A person was fired from a job because he refused to speak in Spanish even though he knew how because he offended somebody... so the influx of Mexicans is more disturbing then dieing by radio-active waste.

Scares me too. Not to mention those that may already be here. Seems to me that since 9/11 we now have to take our shoes off to get on a plane, but no one watches the hundreds who cross over the southern border.
Problem is, if/when what you suggest ever happens, they won't even be able to say they came across the southern border since there isn't any way to record who crosses an open border.
(and they are right, they CAN come across Canada's border, but Canada does a lot more to check on those coming into their country in the first place than Mexico does...)

i think the border should be as it is. However, if the border were to be opened, i wouldn't agree to it. If it ever happened, id still want there to be a checkpoint at the border, meaning all people passing are carded, put down into the computer and searched. This way, the US governmen't will know whose going where, and also if one of the people commits crime or whatnot, they are banned from coming to the US again. I doubt this would work, but I mean in theory, it would.

It is definitely a concern. Like many I feel the wall should be built higher and Security maintain a serious watch. Allowing anyone to come into the U.S. has proven the system has not worked for years and no one in government did anything about it until they were forced to by 9-11. We have so many foreigners here without proper
paper work, none citizens, just living here. Then there are those who are rightfully here which is fine. Allowing anyone to cross our borders and come by plane to our country will always be a risk the government will take,
apparently. It bothers me greatly...

it will be very almost absolutely everyone in Congress' fault (and the President's) different than some genuine patriots like Tom Tancredo (R-CO), Duncan Hunter (R-CA), and Jeff Flake (R-AZ). actually, Flake is approximately a perfect Congressman as you will get. He has fought those earmarks that get hidden in purple meat-ridden charges each and all of the time. regrettably, i think he does not get lots help, even from his very own party. in this Constitutional Republic the place we democratically choose our Congressional Representatives, it's time we asked the demanding questions: who is going to end the border fence? who is going to develop get entry to Visas to fulfill immigration call for whilst, on an identical time, staffing up the INS to instruct English and the form to a number of those new immigrants? high quality, debate, yet then vote and circulate on. And, as quickly as you have voted for something (like a fence), build the d*mn element thoroughly and effectively (probable an oxymoron with government in cost). yet you are going to be sure that, despite if a terrorist does get by using one among our borders -- and, who knows, they'd have already gotten by using and are making plans the subsequent attack -- the finger pointing will only worsen. at that factor, i'm hoping individuals will upward push up, sign up to vote, and positively VOTE interior the PRIMARIES the place many Congressional races are desperate (because of fact that such a number of are partisan and uncompetitive interior the final election).

look buddy , it works both ways..... we can close the border up to you and shut off all the oil / water lumber and all other exports that you so desparately NEED with a stroke of a pen and not let YOU cross into our territory (CANADA).. So while it may scare you and the rest of us don't talk nonsense about closing and isoltaing yourself from the rest of the world?
I know you were talking southern (mexican) border but a lot of you are thinking the SAME thing about the NORTH.
ooops - sorry I forgot.... you are already doing that and thats why for the last 100 years no one else in the world has respect for the USA

If they're coming in on foot, it will just be thousands of Californians, so it's cool. A few hundred thousand? If they took out L.A., half our energy crisis would be done with... What's the harm? No more crappy movies coming out of Hollywood, oh... no...
Or Texans... even better!
Okay, I'm just joking around, because you're stupid.
It's the Canadian border that we should be worried about.
It's wide open and nobody cares!
And they're taking all of the *nice* jobs Americans would actually want to have... tech industries, development, all that tasty stuff. Salary jobs, not the minimum wage dishwashing and janitorial.
Get your priorities straight.

OUr government is really pleased that you are so afraid of what may or may not happen at the border. They have you right where they want you. Now you will agree with and justify without question every thing they want to do. Fear doesnt make you safe.
